Malty, fruity taste with notes of chocolate, caramel, dark fruit and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly sweetish. Quite enjoyable.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a dark brown with about a half finger of off-white head. Aroma of toffee and caramel. Taste is light sweet. Caramel and bready malt. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I’d drink it again.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 5/7/12
Aroma: The nose has some sweet malts, caramel, bread, a little roast, fruit, and nuts
Appearance: Pours a clear caramel-amber color with a foamy beige head and medium lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly sweet and malty as well, much like the nose, with a light earthy hop flavor
Palate: Medium bodied, with a slight stickiness, an easy drinkability, soft carbonation, and a light dryness
Overall Impression:
Overall, this beer is fine. Fine is really the only way to describe it. I didn’t love it or hate it. I’d drink it again, but not with any particular urgency.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 shrubber85 (5064) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - APR 18, 2012
Bottle. Bready malt and dried fruit aroma. Amber color with minimal head. Slightly sweet dried fruit initially followed by a moderately strong rye bread malt flavor. Nicely blended. Love the rye flavor that comes out in this - a great beer.

light for a winter ale but smooth, comfortable and has enough going on to keep you interested in cracking just another bottle.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jason1970 (32) - Illinois, USA - APR 1, 2012
It’s a very mild brew. Too mild for my taste. It’s not a bad beer per se. Just really not very flavorful of robust.
Aroma is very slight toffee and caramel. It’s over powered by a bread almost toasty scent.
Appearance isn’t much better than the aroma. It’s a muddy reddish brown hue. Slightly cloudy.
Taste falls in line with the aroma and appearance. Very low levels of sticky toffee and a bit of bread pudding maybe. Starts with a very mild and finishes that way. Maybe a bit of sweetness, but not much.
It starts kind of fizzy with a very small white head that dissipated quickly. Light bodied with a thin texture. The finish leaves you wanting (not more necessarily).
Overall, it’s drinkable and goes down easy but there’s not much to it. My least favorite of the usual Goose Island suspects. There are a lot better types of this beer around. I wouldn’t go back for more.
