COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Brown Ale with a bite. An American interpretation of an English classic, with lots of domestic Tettnang and Cascade hops to complement the roasted malt character. Head Brewer Wil Turner says this is the beer he is most proud of out of all Goose Island beers!

NW hop aroma. Firm malty body, deep caramel and a bit of diacetyl. Attractive hop character.

I may have to go alone on this one: to me, a better brown ale than their Hex Nut. Dark brown, 90% opaque appearance, little head. Characteristically (for a brown ale) a mild aroma, but a better malt backbone, hinting at roasted elements. Still, a nice lingering hoppiness. Decent. (on tap, Goose Island, Clybourn, Chicago)

i thought it was nutty goose. Tasted like peanut butter in a beer, in a bad way. Not a roasted nutty flavor, but something amiss. Would like to have seen it a bit more smooth with maybe a touch of earthen wood.

A pretty good interpretation of an american brown, but I can't deal with spicy floral and citrus hops in my brown ales. I love the british browns and some American versions, but this just did not do it for me.

Goose Island's Hex Nut Brown Ale is excellent, but this seemed light and watery. Of course, many, many severely hoppy beers preceeded this. It just didn't match their previous brown ale's nuttiness and smooth malt character. I wish they would quit missing the mark and brew up some of their anniversary ale again!

Goose island brewpub-Clybourne-Well, This brew ended my RAF night. Definately a degree down from the excellent brews i was sampling at the RAF. However, when this beer is free, then there is no need to argue(My buddy and I dined and Dashed, something i would have never done if i was sober!!!!)

Nothing special with this brown ale. A little nut and some grainy malt in the body of this one. Really sort of boring. I guess it was reasonably well balanced, but still just boring.

Strong dark notes in the aroma, fruity and sweet...malt seems kind of bland, some caramel flavor but it seems thin. Finish is a little hoppy, but not very complex.

Draft: This was definitely room temperature. Medium brown body with little head. The aroma was weak with a touch of malt. Moderately bitter flavor and finish. Could have had more character, but not bad for a style they're probably not used to making.

Sweet, nutty aroma. Served WAY too warm, which is suprising for Goose Island which usually serves it all ice cold. I think they took the English tradition of slightly warmer beers too far--this was room temperature! Bitterness, but slightly astringent, not too smooth. Hard to tell with this lukewarm beer exactly what is going on.
