3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle shared with a friend courtesy of Binnys South Loop (Chicago, IL). Pours a dark iced tea brownish amber, decent offwhite head that films and laces well. Aromas are a bit funky, throwing light brown sugar, sweet caramel malts, light dark fruit, raisin. Initial is fairly sweet, caramel and toffee malts, light dark fruits, light fruity bitterness. A bit boozy, but not warming. Finishes with raisins, brown sugar, decent bitterness to balance the sweetness. Faint coffee. Not the best, but a decent Brown

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
(22oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) I knew brown ales could be good, and this is finally the one that did it.
Pours a dark orange/brown, nice lacing. Nose is honey, sweet malt, biscuits and delicious. Carbonation is velvety. Taste is lightly toasted sweet malt. Not complex at all, but so well done. Best brown ale Iíve had to date and highly recommended for anyone who has given up on them.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tried this one at the GI restaurant in Wrigleyville (Chicago). The pour and aroma were rather unremarkable...good, but standard. The flavor is where the beer really began to show something. A brown ale, yes, but with more roastiness and bitter chocolate notes than your average brown. I even bet my wife that Iíd come home, log on to RB, and see it listed as a porter (I was wrong, but I stand by the bet!). Went nicely with the chili I ordered, too! Iíll be looking for this one on the shelf.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle. Saw this at my liquor store back home, thought it looked interesting, and then I found out how limited the distribution is. Pours a reddish brown color (a little lighter than a typical brown ale in my opinion) with no head. Very nice smell of nuts, roasty malt, some bitter chocolate. With the roast, nuts, and chocolate, I was basically expecting a taste of roasted chocolate nuts, but I was slightly surprised to see it more layered, with the nuts first, followed by the chocolate, and a light roasted sweetness throughout. Started off light bodied, but it is actually a bit stronger than at first glance. An interesting brown ale, and though Iím not the biggest fan of brown ales, this is quite tasty.

22oz bottle 6/28/09 (Binnyís Naperville)-Pours an amberish brown body with a huge off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, and slight chocolate. Taste of the same with a bit of hops thrown in. This light to medium bodied brew is fairly tasty with a nice balance and taste.

Tap at Wrigleyville. Poured dark brown with a white head. Aroma was full of dark malts. Flavor is also dominated by malts with underlying roasted malts.
