Bottle: Poured a clear dark brown color ale with a large thick off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of lightly smoked malt with some residual sugar and some black chocolate notes. Taste is also a mix between some chocolate malt with light subtle traces of smoked and nuts with light residual sugar which provides a very nice balance. Body is a bit light with good carbonation. Good example of how to pack loads of while keeping the alcohol level to a reasonable amount.

On-tap at the the brew pub... Stunner body, a dark but clear brown, hints of amber. A huge light tan head that is really smooth and creamy looking, good lacing... The aroma comes across to me sterile, too clinically executed, no character. Light nut, alcohol, and roast. Right notes, just doesn’t do it for me... The taste is much better, chocolate with a roastiness to it, hazelnut finish. A little dry for my liking, but complex and tastey. Mouthfeel is too dry but nicely carbonated...Easy drinker.
Not as nutty of a brown as I’m used to or used to liking, but a more clinical approach that is pretty good. I’d drink again
