Aromatics are heavy on coffee and toasty malts. The taste shines through with toasty, roasty, malts! This is a very sessionable beer! Drinkability = High!

Sampler flight on tap at Goose Island Clybourn (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich deep brownish hblack hue, healthy opaque middle with a ruby brown glowing edges. A mellow frothy tannish head films atop and laces ok. Aromas are caramel, toast, toffee. Gentle nut, biscuit, mellow toast. Firm caramel, toast, sweeter toffee slant. Initial is medium bodied, lots of cocoa and carmelization off the bat. Tofee biscuits, toast. A firm sweeter dark middle. Milk chocolate, gentle toast and roast into backend and finish, toasty and carmelized, bread, some biscuit. Tasty, a firm body without being overwhelming or too sweet (Though some may say the middle hints that way). Nice darker sweeter slanted sessioner. Roasty elements are a mellow compliment as opposed to taking the reigns. Nice.

On tap at the Goose Island Clybourn location. Has some nice coffee roast scent and taste. Has some nice chocolate flavors and well, bubble carbonation.

Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma is roasty with notes of malt and coffee. Light-bodied with flavors of burnt malt, coffee and hops. The finish is sweet with a toasted malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Draft at Clybourn. Pours a hazy deep mahoggany, not black. Tan head. Nose is nutty with an odd burnt popcorn note. Cocoa and char. On tasting, lightly smokey and burnt. Creamy overall. Some char and light caramel. Medium bitterness, low hop flavor. Balanced. Really crisp, clean and bitter. Fresh and quite nice. I can dig it.
