[ Raise The Roof Tasting ]. Clear dark black brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, caramel, chocolate, smooth malt, wood. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark malty, alcohol. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20100731]

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, roasted malt, and tar. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, soy sauce, chocolate, and wood, leading to a bitter finish where the alcohol bites the tongue.

22 fl oz bottle. Pours thick and pitch black with a slowly building, dense and chocolate brown head. Aroma is mild hops fruity, dense roasted malt, coffee and alcohol. Flavour is thick alcohol, dark roasted slight acidic malt, liqourice, dark chocolate and slight tarish. Lasting thick roasted malt finish, dark chocolate bitterness mixed with alcohol warmth. A slight bit too boozy.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a pitch black with a light brown head. Sweet hard roast and vanilla in the nose. Solid body, hard roast, dark fruit, medicinal with a distinct hoppiness. The finish is a bit boozy but it doesn’t spoil a great beer. 230311

Bottled@The Chriso Rock The Roof Down pre-GBBF shindig. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is spices, alcohol, liqouorice, chocolate and some mild coffeeish notes as well. Mild grassy and fruityness as well. Flavour is liquorice, spices, alcohol and some chocolate as well as mild red berryish notes. Slight alcoholic burn while swallowing.

Bottled at Monk’s Porterhouse, Stockholm. Completely black with rich creamy beige head. Aroma of chocolate and tobacco. Very sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Intense chocolate and coffee, lots of sugar. Thick and syrupy, the powerful sweetness collides with bitterness into a sweet, inky sensation. Somehow reminiscent of a (more bitter) port, but with chocolate and coffee flavours.

Bottle @ Chris O. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty hoppy licorice and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty weak vanilla and chocolate flavor with hoppy hitns and some woody hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish.

Bottle, 11.7%. Weak roasted aroma, a little vinous with teaish hops. Black colour. Small dark brown head. The flavour is powerful, nice roasted note, good teaish hop flavour with a little bite to it. Quite sweet, but balanced nicely by the alcohol.
