3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 seymour (571) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 7, 2011
Transferred from old tasting notebook: Tasted from bottle into pub pint glass. Poured a nice, clear copper brown. Distinctly English hop aroma, some bread and faintly fruity yeast esters, very nice. True-to-style flavors as well: mild malts, rich caramel malts, nuts, hints of apricot, roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Really tasty. Too bad it’s since retired.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bsp77 (724) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 6, 2011
Serving glass: Poured from bottle into a tall glass.
Appearance: Fairly dark brown with reddish highlights, with light tan head and slight lacing.
Aroma: Caramel and cherry is predominant, with a health dose of spiciness from the English hops. Much of the smell fades, leaving mostly a dry, nutty aroma.
Taste: Sweet caramel, cherry and other dark fruit upfront, before quickly drying out with toasted nuts, English hops and honey.
Palate: Moderate carbonation, medium body, pretty dry finish for a Brown Ale.
Overall: One of the better traditional English Brown Ales around. Or it WAS one of the better until they foolishly decided to axe it. Just a shame.

Mildly nutty but not too much so. Malts, caramel and nuts in the flavor. Pretty good brown ale, wish they still made it.

Pours a brown that some may describe as "nut-colored." Very strong aroma of toasted nuts, roasty malts, and even some caramel. Some hops mixed in with the finish.

Had this in Minneapolis 2007.
Appearance: Nice head, small bubbles, some froth. Lasts a few minutes. Color: Dark brown.
Vicosity: watery, a bit creamy
Smell: light malt.
Taste: much like a smooth oatmeal stout. Aftertaste has hints of dark chocolate or caramel that lingers in a good way. Some sweetness but not overwhelming. Maybe a little too carbonated. Exhale is very good.
