Has a nice nutty flavor. Nice follow through. Really Easy to drink. I think that I'll have a few. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Dark brown color, medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, caramel, and hint of tobacco. Medium sweet taste. Body medium-full, texture on the creamy side but too much, dry finish. Overall this is an excellent brown.

On draft at Blue Monkey. Nice notes of roast and nut, mild chocolate finish. Hints of earth and tobacco. A little too thin in the body, but I enjoyed it.

Bottle: pours dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma is toast, nutty bread. The flavor is nice. It’s a malty, nutty smoothness. It’s wonderful. This is a nice example of an inoffensive beer. It’s nothing that will make people rave, but it slides under the radar as a great beer.

Bottle at Monks Porter House. Clear dark brown with a small head. Aroma and taste of light roasted malt, some chocolate, dried fruit, nuts and syrup. On the thin side, drinkable but nothing to write home about.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/12/2012. Pours slightly hazy reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, toast, toffee, nuttiness, dark bread, brown sugar, floral, and slight dark fruitiness. Excellent aromas with great complexity and balance of dark malt notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, chocolate, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, toast, brown sugar, floral, and slight dark fruits. Lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, toffee, brown bread, nuttiness, brown sugar, toast, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and robustness of dark malt flavors; with good complexity and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent brown ale! Great balance and robustness of dark malt flavors; with a great mouthfeel and smooth drinking. A highly enjoyable offering; one of the best brown ales I have had.

A pint on tap in Florida. Pours dark brown with a very durable, creamy tan head. The aroma suggests a mix of light, medium and, perhaps, some dark malts with a complexity such as one might get from a bit of wild yeast. Some nice complexity in the taste too, with a overall medium roasted malt base and some earthy British hops. The feel is very smooth, with good carbonation but a touch too watery. O: clearly above average for style.

Appearance: dark ruby brown, with purplish highlights and a creamy light tan head, leaving spotty lace. Aroma: very appetizing, slightly sweet, with notes of caramel, toffee, leather, brown bread, hint of chocolate. Taste: awesome--molasses, toast, toffee, caramel, chocolate, a hint of roasted chestnuts (or hazelnuts), a bit of tobacco and wood. Finish: slightly sweet malts linger pleasantly, while mellow, earthy hops and light carbonation sweep the palate clean. Notes: Oh my gosh I loved this beer. Grabbed a single on a whim. Best brown ale ever. I’d hold it up against Brooklyn’s, Dogfish Head’s, Smuttynose, any of them. I must have more.
