Pours a dark ruby brown with no head. Shows viscosity. Nose is sweet and caramelly with a bit of nuttiness and a lot of unfermentables. Flavor is meh, grainy and nutty with some caramel. Palate shows a low carbonation and lots of body.

Two things that I must ask, "Is it just me?" 1)Didn’t this used to be called Hex Nut Brown Ale? 2)Has the recipe changed? I seem to remember the richness of this changing over time. Regardless it was quite nice and nutty in all it’s incarnations. Serving: Bottle

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pilsner glass (thought I would try it out). Pours a nice head that fizzles down quickly. Color is a nice toasty dark brown. Smell is just like the taste. Roasted malts are present. A nice decent amount of hops are clear also, making the balance excellent. The mouthfeel is pretty awesome, very smooth and there is a hint of alcohol present when left floating around inside. I really like brown ales and this one is pretty good representation of they style.
