3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. It pours a very dark brown, which is almost black with a large, long lasting tan head. It has the aroma of nuts, dough, bread and has a roasty aroma. This is a very easy drinking beer. I taste nuts, bread and roasted flavor, leather and tobacco and yet it doesn’t come across as overly complex. I’m glad that I bought this and am looking forward to the rest of this breweries mixed case I bought with it.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured dark brown. Light brown head dissipated fast in clean glass. Aroma of traditional nutty brown ale with good notes of toffee and chocolate. Taste is lighter than appearance with toffee, chocolate and disappointingly light on nut flavor. Dry finish with lighy, oily mouth feel. 2/21/15

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle to a pint glass. The beer pours dark brown with a thin khaki head that leaves little lacing. Aroma is hazelnuts, malts, and a bit of grassy hops. Overall aromas are somewhat subdued. Taste is toffee, nuts, sticky malt, and a bit of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is a little thin and alcohol is not present. Overall a decent representation of the style.

Poured a very dark brown, almost black, color with two fingers of khaki-tan, frothy head. No lacing. No retention. (Sight - 3.00)
Smelled chocolate, nuts, honey, caramel, toffee, faint vanilla, honey, light fudge and chocolate syrup. Seemed to be forced and fake. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted chocolate, nutty malts, honey, sugary chocolate, bitter coffee and leather. Reminded me of a slightly better Shock Top’s Honey Bourbon Cask Wheat. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium-to-full body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.38)
Didn’t really care for this beer that much. Won’t have it again after these three. (Overall - 3.38)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours brown with a nice tight khaki head that fades to a thin wispy film and collar. Aroma has good roasted malt hidden coffee notes and some faint coco. Taste has a little bitterness and nice roasted malt day old coffee. Palate is thin crisp and brings me wanting another dip. Honestly it’s a pretty solid brown ale.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Drank from a twelve ounce bottle purchased from the sketchiest beer store I have ever had the chance to witness, and I’m a person who finds himself in pretty sketchy places. Paired with a couple of Burger King burgers. A good nice nutty, malty beer with nice undertones of smokiness. Definitely, a good beer by Goose Island! Excited to try this on tap one day!

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – Poured a deep brown colored brew with a two finger tan head. The head had a moderate level of retention, fading over time to give a medium level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma was heaviest of roasted malt and some sweet smells of caramel and brown sugar. Mixed with these aromas and as the name would imply is a strong aroma of roasted almonds.
Taste – The taste begins of roasted malt mixed with some of the sweet caramel that was detected in the nose. As the taste advances further other sweet buttery toffee flavors and some chocolate also come to the tongue as well as a nut flavor. While initially the nuttiness was light as the taste advances to the end it becomes more pronounced. When a light earthy hop joins the roasted nut at the end it gives a very light bitter balance to the sweet and leaves a very pleasant aftertaste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well.
Overall – This is a quite tasty brew. It is sweet, roasty and nutty. Quite an easy drinker
