2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nutty and watery, to put it in a nutshell. Not the many-layered spendid thing that a truly great brown ale can be.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Appearance isn’t a good indicator on the taste of this beer, although it’s a beautiful warm color. Everything from the front taste to the understones is enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from 12 oz. bottle at the Goose Island pub on Pier L, Terminal 3 at Chicago's O'Hare airport.
Clear, but very dark brown with a 3-finger khaki head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of nuts (especially hazelnuts), chocolate, roasted malt, toffee and caramel.
Taste of nuts (again, heavy on the hazelnuts), chocolate, light citrus, roasted malt, toffee and roasted coffee.
Medium body and medium carbonation.
Sweet and malty balanced nicely by the nutty flavors and light citrus hops--exactly what a nut-brown ale should be and so few achieve.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, courtesy of jmgreenuk. Pours a clear dark amber, brownish beer with a fair amount of off white head on top. Aroma is very nutty, hazelnuts, chocolate and coffee. Flavor is like carbonated nutella, which is a good thing in my humble opinion. Some coffee in the middle of the flavor. Very nice and enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmigham. Poured a deep mahogany colour with a thin off-white head. The aroma is weak malt, leading to a medium bitter flavour with a liqourice, nutty, cream caramel palate with a hint of chocolate. One of the best nut brown ales i’ve had, but not THE best.
