This is another excellent effort from Goose Island. This stout is always consistent, always rich, smooth and flavorful. Tastes range from chocolate to coffee with enough bitters to keep it interesting. Rich dark color with a healthy tan head. Looks great, smells great, tastes great. What more can you ask for? It’s widely available around here and is often regularly on sale for as low as $5.99 a six-pack. Normally, priced at $6.99.

A very nice domestic stout. Prominent malt aroma with a slightly burnt overtone. Very rich and creamy with solid coffee notes. A very friendly and engaging.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2003 While not as good as the UK imports goose island did a good job here. They are a very competent company if not earth shaking. I can truly say I enjoyed this but it needs to be a bit sweeter and more creem on the palate.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 mcsquint (93) - , Missouri, USA - NOV 30, 2008
Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass.
Aroma -Toasty, smoky malt, chocolate malt, with notes of milk and coffee.
Appearance - Nearly opaque black with ruby red tinges. Nice 2 finger tan head which diminishes rather quickly. Minimal lacing.
Flavor - Semi-sweet chocolate, coffee, slightly smoky with a bit of floral hops on the finish. Very well balanced.
Palate - Medium mouthfeel. Well balanced carbonation. Not too lingering.
Overall - This is one of the best stouts I’ve tried. It is well made and VERY drinkable. Smooth and tasty. This fits my idea of what a dry oatmeal stout should be.

Bottle. The first thing I noticed was the incredible aroma of this beer - sort of herbed with the deep malt. Pours a thick, dark brown but drinks very smoothly. Finish can be a little harsh but nothing to complain about. This beer has single handedly turned my girlfriend onto stouts (and brought me back into the fold). Bravo!

Shoe-leather brown with a nice solid light brown head. Beautious espresso aroma. Milky smooth, and only lightly characterd, but extremely drinkable ... very good.

God this stuff is tasty. Awesome mouthfeel, almost magical. Just a little sweeter and a little more hops and it would be flawless. Also, I wouldn’t mind a higher abv%.
