Chocolate and coffee flavor definitely dominates the experience. Being a huge fan of Guinness, I’ve found this a very acceptable substitute.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The body has a very dark black colored body that blocks out the light. A light tan head caps off this opaque brew. From the pour I got a good two fingers of thick foam that slowly fades to a much thinner as I drink. It does hang on to the end and along the way it leaves some lace on the glass. In the nose there is a mix of bittersweet dark and roast malts with very light hops underneath. The flavor is full of delicious dark roasted goodies. There is a nice play between bitter sweet dark chocolate, caramel like notes and mild hop bitterness. It’s a just a little bit light on the palate but smooth and easy drinking

From a 12 oz bottle. Best consumed by date on the bottle of 05-24-07. Pours almost black with virtually no head. Aroma of chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with chocolate, licorice and coffee notes. Probably way past its prime.

Aroma is oaty with chocolate, some cocoa and hints of coffee. Flavour has oat, chocolate, some licorice, cocoa and hints of coffee. Rather good and rich stuff for this ABV.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A solid outing from Goose Island. Oatmeal comes across nicely in the flavor but especially the mouthfeel which is fairly oily. Rich, chocolatey, with some roasted aroma.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A truly drinkable brew? What kind of tag line is that? As opposed to a marginally drinkable brew? Its decent - roasty, full mouthfeel, etc. and typical of an Oatmeal stout. At the price point not a bad deal either.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beautiful dark pour with a thick, foamy head. Very rounded in color, with a deep dark color. Love the malty fullness of this stout, has a lot of caramel and chocolate notes. Can find in a bottle most shops in the right season.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had some light chocolate notes and poured a decent cola color with minimal head. Taste was coffee up front then faded to a sweet chocolate.
