2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
It has very little aroma. It pours a nice amber color, which I expected for this beer. Its very plain. The first sip starts off bland, a hint of malt. Then it finishes with a light bitter taste. That is it, it really had no complexity at all. It has a very light, watery palate. Just really depressing since its one of my favorite breweries. The old Oktoberfest was infinitely better then this.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Transfer from BA review on 8-27-13-
Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a nice clear reddish amber color with a one finger off white head. The head has a good level of retention fading over time to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of caramel and some toasted malty smells. Mixed with these aromas are some lighter notes of a grainy nature, a little bit of a grassy smell as well as some notes of spice and apple.
Taste – The taste begins with a sweet and smooth lightly toasted bread and caramel taste. Notes of a light fruit sweetness join the caramel as the flavor advances giving the beer a moderately strong, but nice and drinkable sweet taste. As the flavor advances from the start, along with the increase in sweet, so too comes some flavors of a grassy and herbal nature as well as a little bit of spice. Other more roasted flavors of a chocolate and roasted malt flavor come more toward the end leaving a nice smooth, sweet, and lightly toasted/roasted flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. Both are rather nice for the style while keeping it a good easy drinking brew.
Overall – Overall a rather enjoyable Marzen with a smooth, sweet, nicely roasted, easy drinking taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours copper / orange with a small off-white head, The aroma has caramel, brown sugar, lager smoothness and some smooth nuttiness. Starts medium body with lots of smoothness and frothy carbonation. The flavor starts with semi-sweet nutty caramel malt, light spice, lager smoothness and rounded toasted malt. The finish is very smooth and clean and has just a touch of wateriness and hints of alcohol. Pretty good,

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shared 12 oz. bottle poured to snifters, showing a cloudy amber color, with an off white layer of head foam, and spotty lacing. The nose was light grain & malt, with some caramel sweetness. A bit less than medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste included just a touch of hop bitterness. Okay as far as drinkability goes, but a not very "to style" example of a Marzen. Kind of a "fest-lite".

Pours a darker caramel color. Clean lager smell on the nose with a hint of sweet malt and apricot. Taste is slightly toasty with a faint biterness on the finish. Solid, drinkable, unremarkable.

9/12/2014: Goose Island Oktoberfest... Wow, this is a fantastic beer. Not only is it a great representation of the style, but it is so perfect for the weather and my mood at the mood. Beautiful golden copper color with a pale ivory-colored head. Amazing aroma of burnt sugar, dried leaves, and slightly caramel. The flavor has a nice, smooth toffee maltiness with a dollup of burnt sugar, dried fruits, and finishes with a nice, traditional, mild Noble hop finish. The beer is medium-bodied and smooth and slightly creamy on the palate. Overall, this is a fantastic beer. I’m really pleased with Goose Island’s new offerings. Very solid and quite delicious.

Bottled. Orange-brown color. Nicely malty, bread, rich, some caramel, stone fruits. Not too sweet or syrupy, but malty and bready. Earthy hop finish. Well done.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours copper red with off white head. Nice aroma of malts and some sweetness. Flavor wise for a marzan is actually pretty good solid malt backbone with something like a dried fruit and a touch of caramel. Overall good for style and flavor
