COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the traditional Märzen style our Oktoberfest pours a brilliant copper over rose color with a bone white head. Notes of toffee and burnt sugar in the aroma and flavors of sweet dried apricots are delivered in a dry malty body with the mild earthy bitterness that is the hallmark of Hallertau hops.

Bottle at home. Pours brilliantly clear tawny with a medium, frothy beige head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is nutty, toast and honey malt, light caramel character and dark fruits with light spicy hops. Flavor is sweet malt dominant, light hops and bitterness, clean fermentation and a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Long time coming with this revie.w Has a pumkin spice presence, too sweet, thin sodalikebody. Fucking sucks.

Bottled. Orange-brown color. Nicely malty, bread, rich, some caramel, stone fruits. Not too sweet or syrupy, but malty and bready. Earthy hop finish. Well done.

Bottle. Clear amber with a small off-white head. Malty aroma, toasty, caramelly, a bit nutty, a bit fruity. Sweetish malt flavor with caramel, bread, light toastiness, a fruity note and a drier finish with very light bitterness. OK, pretty easy-drinking.

Draft on tap at Tribes Alehouse (Mokena, IL). Pours a nice deep copper amber blend, near transparent, a healthy carmelized hue glows a bit darker, some more orange on the edges and bottom. A cakey offwhite head atop stays as a decent layer, good stick around, laces ok. Aromas show some biscuit and toast, gentle toffee sweetness, bread, gentle bread yeast, some subtle earthy florals and mellow spiciness, touch of crusty bread, touch of dark fruit. Initial is medium bodied, a touch of girth shows some toast and carmelized malts, biscuits, touch of toffee. Some sweetness meets some decent earthy hop bitterness, a touch floral and mellow spice. Middle is a bit fruity, some apple, gentle pit fruit and dark fruit influence hits quickly. Backend moves back to some soapy dryness, a bit floral and earthy, still a firmer body of toffee and biscuits, some gentle toastiness. That fruit feel in the middle is distinct for me. Touches of dryness, some gentle girth. Finish is a bit toasty, subtle carmelization, toast and some gentle dryness. Some gentle fuzziness, some spiciness, firmer biscuit. A solid Oktoberfest, not brooding or too thick, not too sweet, a nice earthy hop balance. Solid stuff.

Draft to taster. Looks good for the style; a mostly transparent brownish orange with off-white lacing. Smells and tastes maltyand lightly doughy with notes of caramel. Solid on the palate. An okay Oktoberfest.

Bottled on 01JULY13. Nose light malty with pleasant and appropriate swathes of citric and earthy noble hops. Beautiful clear amber body with a short beige head. Taste lightly sweet malt, some nice Munich/roasty/Maillard character and light nuttiness, fresh and clean, though the aftertaste a bit stale by comparison. Some caramel glaze and beautiful noble hops, Hallertau for sure but seems like some Saaz as well. Crisp light-medium body. Tasty and very nice, even style appropriate, but ultimately too sweet for me to invest in a six pack. Have to hand it to their marketers, this is one of the rare times where a commercial description is utterly accurate I’m blown away!).

Pailhead (4806) - Brownstown, Michigan, USA - AUG 30, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, lighter toffee, light fruit, and some earthy notes. It pours a transparent amber with a three finger orange tinted off-white head that has decent retention before finally fading to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts with moderate toasted caramel notes with a touch of grain. The finish has light earthy bitterness and roasted nuts. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat sticky mouthfeel.
