COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our London-Style Porter has a rich malt aroma and flavor. We use wheat malt for a creamy head and body, Victory malt for a toasty middle, and chocolate malt for the flavor and color. Lightly hopped with English Northdown and Fuggles.

This beer has a rich, thick, creamy, light brown head. The beer is a deep brown to black color. The dominant aroma I can pick out is of burnt raisins. The taste is creamy with a deep roast character in the finish. I get notes of toasted malts, coffee and burnt raisins. The sweetness up front is balanced by the dry roastiness in the finish. This is actually fairly light bodied and refreshingly smooth, despite the ample roastiness. When paired with my food, notes of chocolate came to dominate as the roasted notes were muted by the pairing.

Draft at Clybourn. Dark sepia with read highlights, cream head of small bubbles dissipates. Green nose, bit metallic, light roast and chocolate. Flavor is more chocolate, roast, bit chalky in the finish, bitterness and chocolate clashing, incoherent through the dusty, overly sweet finish.

Date: November 22, 2011 Mode: Cask Source: GI Clybourn Description: Opaque dark brown with good head and lacing, roasted malt and chocolate aroma, taste was similar and had a mild bitter finish, very smooth and creamy. This was tasty, surprised that it is not getting more love with the ratings.

Imperial pint from the brew pub on Clybourn. Fairly light in body and standard in taste. There’s a nice malty backbone, but not a whole lot of staying power in the taste. It’s an average porter, not bad, but not memorable either.

On tap at Clybourn. This poured a medium to dark brown with a tan head. Aroma was roasted malt, light chocolate and some bittering hops. Flavor was much the same as the aroma, light chocolate, some moderate roast. Only complaint in this one is it was a little thin.

On tap at GI (Clybourn). Dark brown/black pour with an off white head. Roasted malt and cocoa aromas. The taste followed suit.

On tap at GI Clybourn 7/20/09. Pours dark black with bubbly cream head. Coffee, roasted nuts and caramalized butter on the nose. Nice sweetness, then a fantastic bitter coffee finish. A phenomenal porter.

This poured impenetrable dark brown in color with a very thin off-white head. The nose gives off scents of mineral, bitter chocolate, coffee grounds and fishwater. In the mouth it was medium-bodied but lacked depth and concentration of flavor. This was utterly unexciting.

Skyview (4880) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - OCT 26, 2008
Sampled from 750ml bottle during Surly D-Day. Pours a dark brown brew with a thin and fast dissolving tan head that leaves no lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, toasted dark malts, and a touch of pitted dark fruits and cherries. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malts, chocolate, pitted dark fruits and a touch of toffee. Finish is a little chalky with a mild chocolate and fruit aftertaste. This may be showing some of its year long age.
