3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jokes (1453) - Chicago, USA - JAN 7, 2003
UPDATED: MAY 22, 2003 Golden/amber color with a nice, persistent head. Pleanty of hops--perfumey, piney, citrusy, and most of all, tea. Goose Island's attempt at a Pacific Northwest American Pale Ale. This is a good, easy drinking beer, but if you want a PNW APA, stick with those made on the Pacific Coast.

Tab at pub in London, with food from pub. A very nice hobby taste that went well with the fat pub food.

12oz bottle pours golden yellow with a slight grassy bitterness in the aroma. Lighter bitterness than most pale ales. Honey like body. Very similar to Sierra Nevada.

Tried this on draught. Good pour with a decent sized head. Orangish color. It’s certainly on the hoppier side of a Pale Ale. Overall a strong beer. All in all, I’m still partial to Sierra Nevada.

Drat. Pours dark amber with a medium white head. Has a hoppy aroma, a bit of citrus. Taste has a bit of hop, but not huge. Nice.

Pretty lacing on medium head. Tangerine colored. Not much body. Great big ol’ hoppy finish to this grapefruit flavored, somewhat acidic brew. No floral notes, which I would have preferred.
Flavor improved as it warmed, sweetening a touch, but malts are clearly overwhelmed by the hops-a worthy attempt at a California pale ale.

At the VA Beer Festival, Norfolk, VA. Pale amber with a slight white head. Nose and flavor rather bland; slightly sweet malt and grain with a tiny bitter end. Not bad, but very blah.

Pale Caramel/toffee malt and a mild citrus hopping combine in a fairly tame, but very drinkable APA...I prefer this to the more generic Honkers Ale, I believe.

Pours a murky golden orange color. Aromas of citrus hops, caramel malts. Flavor is bitter and hoppy with a touch of pepper/grapefruit with sweet malt.

Kind of like Honker’s weak sister, a very mild APA with faint citric hops and a light malt for a nose. Balanced, but not much life to it. A bit thin with soft malt and a very slight hop bitterness.
