3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Beer #1500 (2012 bottle). An AB-InBev product. Thanks to Rob and Ally for sharing this! Aroma: More smokey than expected, almost peat-like in some way; roast never tends toward coffee. Pepper is hanging around, creeping around the edges; ointment. Appearance: Dark garnet brown with a foamy tan head that settles into a bubbly skin. Flavor: Smokey, peppery, still can’t shake that peat note. Pepper ever present, but not powerful. Ointment more apparent toward finish. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Definitely an interesting approach to a Saison. Not sure if I enjoyed it that much, however.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep brown in colour with a thin but long lasting beige head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of pepper, light spice, dark fruits, yeast and bread. The flavour is of chocolate, rye bread, malty, yeasty with some citrus tang, fruit. Lightly yeasty mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long and yeasty, good malt bite. A pretty nice dark saison, love the rye in this.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 2013 bottle dated 21/MAR/13. Gorgeous dark brown to near black pour with long lasting soft tan head. The aroma has some nice dark malts, yeast, light spice, and sour notes to it. Bold body. The taste is sweet and sour actually with the sour notes not too tart and not too off-putting.

Definitely the best saison that I’ve ever tasted. A little tart, and incredibly smooth.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft pour. Pours black with a cream head. I’ve never seen a saison like this before, and almost thought I was poured the wrong beer. Slightly sour fruit aroma. The is beer is so smooth. So so smooth. Really nice peppery flavor with some darker fruit. A little tart at first, with a mild roasted finish. I have nothing but good things to say about this beer. Another solid from these guys.
