This is a pretty good beer. Nice appearance. It’s a bit spicy, but mostly this is pretty indistinct. On par then for a saison, but I thought this could’ve been a bit more unique and interesting.

Attractive pour...dark murky brown with brown head. Aroma is spicy caramel malt. Nice taste...big belgian malt; notes of caramel, spice, dark fruit, clove and black pepper. Oily & creamy texture but dry aftertaste. Mellow yet full flavor. Very good.

Like a porter crossed with a smokey thin stout. Pours rootbeer brown with a thin head. Subtle notes of coffee and spice. Malty smell and lingering aftertaste of malt and barley.

Smell is rather spicy, the appearance is dark brown/amber and cloudy. The taste is rather unique, dark malt mixed with Belgian yeast mixed with rather spicy hops. Very good ale overall.

Pours a dark brownish black with 4 fingers of sticky light brown head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, yeasts, spicy hops candi sugar, esthers. Flavor is spicy grassy floral hops, roast, chocolate. Interesting take on a Saison, but ultimately i’d rather just have a regular saison than a black one.

Bottle, shared with Parksy. Dark brown with mahogany highlights and a creamy tan head. Musty dark fruit, lightly smoky, lightly yeasty. Lighter mouthfeel with fairly high carbonation. Leans toward a Baltic porter style, but the lighter body, the carbonation, and the yeast steer it away. Interesting.

Pours black with a rich white head. Aroma is mild slightly sour with a mild roasted malt aroma. Very nice great body. Very porter like flavour with a nice slightly sour funky flavour. This is a very nice brew. Very nice.

22. Pours an opaque dark brown with a dense and creamy burnt tan head. Looks very stouty. Big tangy bread dough nose, bits of aluminum and molasses along with caramel. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Cola, molasses, brown bread, and a bit of aluminum on the mid palate. Mild tangy sweet finish. Not bad. A bit cloying and metallic.
