COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with loads of malt and Belgian yeast, Pere Jacques is a wonderfully fruity, malty ale. Pere Jacques’ complex flavors stand shoulder to shoulder with the Belgian Dubbels enjoyed in the world’s finest beer bars. At the dining table it’s the perfect alternative to a glass of vintage port.

Bottle. Pours a ruddy brown that is barely luminescent with little head and a faint effervescence. A thick doughy aroma with a fruity background and some perceptible hops. Very tasty, rich and sweet with an array of candy fruits before leaving you with a lingering bitter-sweetness. The palate, like the beer is rich and thick and feels creamy in the mouth. Quite good!

12 oz bottle: poured reddish amber with a small tan head. Aroma is of wet tobacco, iced tea, light caramel. Sweet flavor with dark fruits and caramel. Light bitterness in the finish. I can’t tell if I like this or not. Flavors seem to be all over the place.

Aroma is slight, with only a touch of sweetness and sucrose. Palate is very sticky and sweet as it enters the mouth, with lots of candi sugar, brown sugar, sweet cherries. I notice none of the brett they mention. A rich and filling beer, that could do with reducing sugars and bringing out the brett.

Dark mahogany with a foamy white head and some lace. Aroma is very sweet with caramel. Dark fruits are in the mix as well. Slight yeast and/or bread smells, too. The flavor is much the same as the aroma but bittering hops come in to the equation. A touch more in the spice department as well. The end is a bit bitter and some heat shows up. Thick and chewy body leaves a coat in the mouth.

Thanks to Dough77 for ths. Reddish-hued, medium-brown body that makes a small, but persistent, creamy tan head of tight bubbles. Sweet, fruity, complex aroma. Fresh yeast. Smoothly delivered flavor that follows the aroma. Just enough bittering in the finish to balance the sweetness. Not bad.

"Poured a brown color with almost no head. Aroma was of spices and bananas. Flavor was of spices dark fruits, not sure where the banana aroma came from cause didn’t really get that in the flavor. Had an alcohol bit to it that i didn’t enjoy."

Hazy deep amber body with a very small head. Fruity aroma with yeast and light spices. Some caramel and sugar. Flavor has a more pronounced fruity taste. Got cherries and raisins, hint of berries. I found the flavor and mouthfeel to be more appealing than the nose. Medium bodied. Still, something feels off or messed up. Not bad, but could be a lot better.

I saw this in a liquor store in Lawrence Kansas and just thought I’d give it a try. 12 oz. Bottle. It pours murky light red with a quickly dissipating head and no lacing. The nose consists of raisin, plum and brown sugar. It has robust brown sugar, fruit, and raisin flavors. A little on the flat side but otherwise it is nice beer.

Dark multi brown. Frothy, off white head. Rich and roasty caramel malt, doughy yeast, dark fruits, candi sugar, cocoa powder, and subtle anise and alcohol. Full, smooth palate. Great brew after dinner with a mild cigar.
