An unclear brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is of over ripe fruit and oxydized, as well as with light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and over ripe fruits, as well as light spicy notes, especially cloves and coriander. The end is dry.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of fiulijn/boboski. Vintage 2007. Hazy, warm, amber golden with an off-white head. Sweetish fruity, but also somewhat medicinal aroma. Quite full-bodied with very sweet fruit notes, some caramel and an underlying yeasty note. Basically no bitterness. Unbalanced and cloyingly sweet. 271207

12 fl oz bottle. Pours deep amber, almost clear and golden with a small, light yellowish and lasting head. Aroma is mild spiced, wooden hoppy and light fruity. Flavour has a distinct hops presence. Caramel, light spiced and fruity. Liqourice note too. Somewhat undefineable chemical touch too. Ends dry, roasted and bitter with a persisting chemical note.

Bottled@SBWF2008. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is caramel malts, mild nuts and some notes of alcohol. Flavour is much the same with some plum and raisins added. Alcohol also stays in the aftertaste, but isn’t offending at all. Pleasant.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Stockholm. Clear copper, no head. Evident caramelly nose. Sweet with medium-full bodied. Fairly soft with with some apricot, caramelized sugar and glue. Intense, but a bit assaulting with a minty black currant finish.

Bottle, 8%. Mild fruity aroma. Nice clear dark orange amber colour. Small tan head. The flavour is malty and caramelly. A little sweet with some brown sugar. Good bitterness to balance. Does not taste very Belgian, but good nonetheless.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2010 2010-08-06, bottle, vintage 2009, 1 year old, 6-4-7-3-14=34
Beautiful red-amber color; good-sized frothy head. Aroma of caramel, quite mature, and a bit metallic too. Medium body strength; it has a strong caramel flavor, sugary, a tad metallic, with tones of liquorice; the alcohol is too evident. Confused.

2007-09-29, draught at the brewpub, Clybourn location, 7-4-8-4-16=39
Hazy dark amber color. The aroma is quite fruity, malty, sweet. Very good body, good malt flavor, with a nice fruitness from the yeast. A classic strong Belgian Ale, more powerful than the Matilda, but less characteristic; warming in the end. Very good.

2007-06-23, bottled on 2006-01-23, 1 and half years old, 8-4-8-4-17=41
Hazy chestnut color; thin creamy head. Strong malty aroma; the yeast leaves fruity notes; a touch of sweet wood, maybe of Bourbon vanilla, leather, very light phenol. Full mouthfeel, full malty flavor, very sweet (but not cloying). Warming final; not bitter enough, but nice and strong malt, vanilla, sweet wood.
Sweeter than a traditional Belgian Ale, not enough hop to be a Barley Wine.
The complexity of the aroma, and the epicurean luscious malt, for a great beer.

clear dark amber, nice fine beige head, touch of lace, sweet spicy aroma with fruity essence, hint of alcohol, thick sweet body, lots of sweet malt flavor, great sweet fruity character, lots of apricot, touch of spices, a sweet fruit beer without being a fruit beer, tons of character,
