COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with loads of malt and Belgian yeast, Pere Jacques is a wonderfully fruity, malty ale. Pere Jacques’ complex flavors stand shoulder to shoulder with the Belgian Dubbels enjoyed in the world’s finest beer bars. At the dining table it’s the perfect alternative to a glass of vintage port.

Pere Jacques is a malty masterpiece. One of the few American-made Dubbels that tastes like it came straight from Belgium. There’s subtle fruitiness and a huge malt taste with heavy tones of caramel. Just like Goose Island suggests, this is a beer that would be an ideal pairing with an elegant meal. Rich meats are an especially good match for this brew.

January 31, 2014. 765mL bottle from LCBO at Front and Jarvis. Brownish red in colour. Lovely aroma of raisins and caramel that I smelled immediately upon opening the bottle. Quite a lovely dubbel. I would say this is comparable to a Trappist dubbel. Nicely done.

2010 bottle drank in may of 2014. Belgian yeast aromas are prominent. Hazy mildy dark amber. Hazy because of an overly aggressive pour . Sweet Carmel with dark fruits in the background but the yeast overpowers all. Has a slight sting to it as and aftertaste but still one of the best beers personally drank

Big sweet nose. Candi sugar and raisins. Malty, vinuous sweet with fruity esters. Bit of soy sauce. Belgian strong ale aromas, yeasty and musky. True to style. Vaporous, and really reminds me of Rochefort 8. Cloudy dark amber brown with off-white lacing head. I poured in the lees. Silky heavy body with medium carbonation and alcohol warming. Mellow sweet quaff, for sure. Rife with candi sugar and estery Belgian yeasties. Reminiscent of Rochefort or Chimay. Huge malt sweetness and fruity ester. Just enough bitter to round out the finish. This is probably the best domestic Belgian strong I’ve had to date.

Sweet and spicey aroma. Poured with little to no head (not like the picture to the right). Very sweet flavor. Full body with a sweet finish.

Having dinner right now. Eating a venison beef stroganoff dish. Delicious! This beer is incredible with this meal. Pours a light caramel color, little to no head. Sweet and spicy aroma. Very sweet flavor. Full body with a sweet finish. I have drunk this beer many times over the past two years. And will drink this beer many more times.
