Slick (1956), Minnesota, USA Sep 29, 2007 Nice golden color, small off white head that had a short hang time then faded quickly leaving little behind.Grainy cerealish aroma with some light hints of citrus and hops. The flavor was quite decent,a bit cerealish with some nice light malt notes a bit of sweetness in the middle then a slight hoppy end.Fairly smooth and easy drining brew.Doesn’t quite fit the season but pleasant none the less and well worth having a few more for saving for the summer.
Ughsmash (3004), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 26, 2006 On tap at Clybourn. Poured a clear, brighter golden with a short layer of looser white bubbles. The nose was lighter, sporting bready malts and hints of citrus (perfect for the 90 degree weather). Pils and bready pale malt base... lighter lemony notes surround the tongue... almost sharp at times, but never astringent. Smooth and lighter-bodied with medium carbonation. Very refreshing! oldrtybastrd (1512), Morlautern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany Mar 5, 2006 Pours a nice hazy golden yellow. Aromas of malts, hops, and grass. Crisp hop bitterness and dry finish.
Cable (285), SE, Oklahoma, USA Sep 9, 2005 Sampled from bottle. This pils pours a slightly hazy yellow with a thin white head and intricate lacing. Aroma is grassy and has notes of honey. It is too balanced for the style - I was expecting more hop bitterness. Good malt backbone with both honey and floral hops present. Medium-bodied and smooth. A good beer, but probably not up to par with the other Goose Island beers. Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Jan 14, 2005 Clean aroma, floral and spicy noble hops, faint malt. Brilliant clear gold color, medium white head, lots of big bubbles. Nice balance in the flavor, clean hops and malt, nothing overpowering, and no off-flavors (which is quite a compliment for a pils). Medium body, smooth. Very nice pilsener-style beer, very clean and balanced - I love a good pils!
