COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chicago, home to more Czechs than any city outside the Czech Republic, is a fitting home for America’s finest Pilsner. Goose Island Pils is craft brewed and cold lagered for a crisp refreshing taste.

Golden color, noble hop aroma, crisp pilsner malt flavor, light body

Gentle soft, sweet, nicely fruity. Smallish head. Soft front, flowery-hoppy. Medium bitter finish. Clean nice pils.

Draft in sampler at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours a clear gold color with a small white head. Notes of grass, straw, and sweet and pils malts. Light-bodied, with a malty mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Crisp all the way through, but not as clean as a better pils because the malt lingers for so long.

Sampled at Clybourn brewpub. Clear gold. Definite eastern european hops are forward. Light sulphur effects help make for a dry beer. Light fruit adds nicely. Authentic.

Hint of diacetyl but it if it was czech style you generally find a little, but this was just slightly too much for my sensitive taste buds.

Sampled from the tap at the Clyborn location. Poured a clear yellow wihth a white head that dissipated quickly and completely. Aroma had notes of crisp grass and hay but not much else. Flavor was similarly simple with hay in the start with grass coming out in the finish.

Tasted on 4/5/11 on draft at the Clybourn Brewpub. Pours clear pale golden with a thin white head that recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is nutty bread malt, crisp earthy hops, and a bit of wheat. The flavor is dry and crisp with wheat, nutty bread, and a light hops bite. The body is light with average carbonation and a medium wheat and hops finish.

Reviewed from notes. Pours a nice golden color with a shade of darkness to it. Visible carbonation and a nice white head, although that dies down somewhat quickly. Still, some very nice lace involved. The nose brings forward a good dosing of floral, earthy, and light citrus hops as well as a bit of grain. The taste is more toward the grainy end of the pilsner spectrum and the hops don’t come through like they did in the nose. Still, the body is nice and crisp and this drinks quite well. Crystal malty aroma. Piss yellow. Just a pilsner, which I don’t really care for.

TheAlum (3299) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - NOV 27, 2010
Draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a glowing darker golden hue, some orange, light hazr, frothy whitish head dies to a film. Aromas are citrusy orange, grainy malts, cereal, bread, grass, orange marmalade. Initial is sweeter, touches of grassy and orange rind bitterness, light cheerios, bread, pale malts, grainy cereal malts. Touches of lemon, grainy and dry malts, light yeast, gentle carbonation. Finish is dry and sweet, light thicker orange citrusy bite. Fruit and dry. Crisp and clean, but flavorful. An orange slanted pils which is weird, seems very American. Tasty, finishes clean yet flavorful. Fresh.
