COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Amarillo, Cascade, and Columbus American hops make this hybrid red ale / Pacific Northwest pale ale a hoppy pint to the bitter end! A small amount of chocolate malt contributes to the glowing deep red hue of this beautiful beer.

Sampled at the Clybourne location. This beer pours to a rocky bubbly head that is tan and sits atop a clear mahogany body. The aroma is vienna malts, light grassy hops. A bit weak. The flavor is APA-like. Tons of hops, sweet malts. Grasses and dandelions. The palate is very smooth. Lingering bitterness. Goes down easy. Creamy.

On tap at Goose Island, Clybourn, October 22, 2011. Clear amber with a small head. Fresh and fruity, really drinkable but not the most exciting of beers.

Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours a dark amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that recedes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Fruity aroma with notes of hops and malt. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt, leafy hops and a bit of chocolate. The finis is dry with toasty malt at first then a light piney hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Pale reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, red fruit, fresh floral hops and hints of tea. Malty taste with notes of caramel, red fruit, black-currant, treacle toffee and fresh hops in a finish with a gentle bitterness. Medium body, with a touch sweetness. Well balanced and very enjoyable beer.

On tap into a tasting glass...A light clear and bright amber. An off white head, ok retention...A boring aroma that does not show off the hops like I was expecting or the tastes reveals...The taste is a really good hoppy red beer. Caramel backbone, sweet malts to start but a big burst of pine pines on the back, fresh, seems dry hopped. Powerful, flavorful and very tasty to drink if you want a hoppy beer with flavor. Slight metallic resin finish that I could do without. Worth trying.

ante (3375) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JAN 22, 2011
Bottle at Monks Cafe Wallingatan, Stockholm. Pours out in a shady reddish amber colour with with a creamy off-white head. Rounded, fruity and rather hop aromatic aroma of resin, cantaloupe, caramel and toasted malts with floral undertones. Medium-bodied with notes of resin, caramel, flowers and over-riped raspberries. Rounded yet firm mouthfeel. Long medium-bitter and quite aromatic aftertaste of caramel, resin, Seville oranges, sweet red berries and flowers. One of the better Amber ales I’ve sampled to date.

[Tap] Pours a rich hue of amber with little head. Nice looking lacing. Hoppy aroma with some citrus and grass coming to the forefront. Sweet caramel and tangerine in the flavor. Lasting sweet and hoppy flavors in the finish. A touch on the sticky side, but good in body. Light carbonation levels. A nice take on the hoppy amber style.

Draugt at clybourn. Medium amber hue. Surprisingly not that malty, and nicely done with the toast and caramel. Nice piney and orange hops are about equal to just over the the malt in both aroma and flavor. A touch fruity in fermentation and the lightest hint of diacetyl. Medium bodied and easy to drink. Not a super hoppy red, at least by west coast standards, but a nicely hopped beer all the same, with a nice depth of malt.

11/7/2008, draught at Clybourn. Clear orange with a one finger creamy beige head, fading to a thick ring after a couple minutes. Lots of tangerine and citrus hops up front with some caramel malts behind. Flavor has tons of fruity hops (tangerine and mango) and sweet scorched caramel. Dry finish with bitterness at a 4. Moderate carbonation with a medium body. Very good.
