At the Clybourn location. I liked this one. Very banana clovey in the yeastiness. On the sweeter side. Nice reddish amber color. Serving: Tap

Draft in a sampler at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours a hazy red-tinted amber color with a small beige head. Notes of wheat, banana, clove, citrus, sweet bread, sugar, and nuts. Medium-bodied, with a wheaty, sweet mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Very sweet. On par with the other wheat beers at GI-C at the moment- decent but with something that put me off just a little bit.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 18/20 JoePeesie (752) - Long Lake, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2012
Pours a cloudy orangish brown with a finger of off white head. Nose and taste is a bit bready, nice malts, banana, a touch of spice. Well balanced and very approachable. I had this beer with a burger which probably wasn’t my best decision. I think this would have been a better desert brew, a bit sweet for a meal beer.

draft at GI clybourn. Caramel color, clove & banana aroma, hefeweizen yeast. Floral & fruity. Dunkle flavor is just a tad watery/light. Very close to being a solid dunkle
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 NobleSquirrel (2677) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 20, 2011
Draft at Clybourn. Pours a slightly murky reddish brown with a sticky head. Nose is distincly candy and nutty. The wheat really screams in this one. A certain meaty quality as well. On taste, there is more of that meatiness and a chocolate type quality. I’m guessing there is roasted wheat in here based on the flavor profile. Finish is a bit tart. Clove and banana are very present as well. Pretty decent beer, if a bit anomalous.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 sbanach (203) - USA - MAY 17, 2011
This one was okay, but not my favorite. On draft at Clybourn brewpub. aroma of wheat and orange. Light orange/red color. Smells of banana, wheat, and orange. taste is wheat, banana, gumball, cloves, sligt sour, light astringent taste. Spicy and very complex. Reminds me of a belgian wit with much more spicey character with a hafeweizen yeast strain.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheAlum (3299) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Half Pint draft on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich almost copper pour, maybe a dark amber brownish pour with healthy haze, good fiery glow on the edges with big offwhite maybe almost beige head, laces well. Dies to a thicker film. Aromas are some touches of biscuits, faint toffee, with estery bananas, cloves and touches of spice. Some flaked wheat, bread dough, some touches of deeper sweetness. Spice. Initial is medium bodied with spice and touches of toffee, caramel, biscuits up front. Some banana, toffee, flaked wheat cloves, and spice. The darker bent (but not chocolate or full blown brown sugar) give it some more complexity and lessen the ester influence. Finish is fairly clean, faint spice and fruity ester. An easy drinker, most flavor is offered up front. Not bad, faint darker bent gives it some niceness. Solid wheat.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 deyholla (3533) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Sampled from the tap at the Clyborn location. Poured a hazy dark brown with an amber hue and a gray head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of light fruit with banana and clove and an underlying dark grain note. Flavor was similar with the banana and clove really being showcased throughout.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 jrallen34 (3445) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 27, 2011
On tap into a pint glass at GI Wrigley...The beer is super dark for a hefe, medium brown, murky, light tan head about two fingers...The aroma is overwhelming with all clove. I love clove but when its this much its just a huge turn off...The taste is also all clove way too much its just not enjoyable...The feel is ok, drinkability takes a hit.
