3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at goose. Pours hazed glowing orange with white head. Aroma has big pineapple juice character. Flavors have a big spritzy fruit kick, lots of peach and mango, this sort of devolves into a simple sweet malt base that has a subtle wheat twang to it. A bit odd how it is dominated by a fruity hop presence but they dont show up in a really pleasant or interesting way, the bitterness is low but it’s deceiving because the feel is quite sharp. Pretty simple hoppy wheat.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at GI Clybourn. Pours a deep gold with some hop hazy, sticky mousse on top. Nose is nice, soft tropical fruit and citrus, soft toasty malts. Hop forward overall. On tasting, nice and fruity again, citrus forward and crisp. Quite clean and refreshing, pretty nice hoppy pale ale, though not super complex. Slight tanginess, probably from the wheat.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Taster at Clybourn brewpub. Pours hazy slightly cloudy yellow (looks a lot like 312). Flavor is bready, slightly citric, and quite hoppy for a wheat ale. Imagine 312 with the hops turned up from a 3 to an 7. I’m not the biggest fan of that so I’m not a huge fan of this beer, but I can respect it and it’s pretty well crafted.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Flight on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL*). Pours a well hazed golden orange hue, fiery glow with a firm whitish head atop, dies to a decent layer and laces ok. Aromas offer a lemange of grapefruit, healthy citrus, florals. Flaked wheat, lemon, and grass. Touches of mellow sweetness are covered up by a healthy American hopping, fairly potent. Initial is lighter bodied, healthy stick of grapefruit up front, fairly potent dryness, hoppy. With a more grapefruity, fuzzy peach, melon coming in. Touches of lemon assault as the middle shows some flaked wheat, bread, but still remains dry, lively, with a healthy American hop appeal. Good bitterness and heavy grapefruit rind and fruit influence remain, sticking into the finish. I must admit, I love grapefruit. I’m a sucker for this. Tasty, clean, a healthy American hop influence that pleases. Well done.
