On cask. Deep amber with no head. Mild sweet malt and not that hoppy at all. More fruit than anything. Not what I hoped for -- i’m quite sure this would be better not on cask.

Sampled from the tap at the Clyborn location. Pours a clear rebuild orange with a tab head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has light earthy citrus with grapefruit and earthy grain. Flavor starts with musty grapefruit with a backing earthy grain note.

Dogbrick (6003) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - NOV 16, 2012
Sample at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours a clear reddish-amber color with a medium eggshell white head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is hoppy with fruit and malt notes. Medium body with flavors of grassy hops, tropical fruit and sweet malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Above average overall.

NobleSquirrel (3286) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Draft at Clybourn. Pours a deep near-red pour with a sticky white head that falls but sticks around. Nose is cat-piss, citrus and mango, light cherry. Faint toasty malt. On tasting, moderately high bitterness that is also quite clean. Fresh and fruity with some caramel that nearly reaches the "too much" line. Old School IPA for sure but digable.

On tap @ Goose Island 10/18/2012 with Erica. In town for Jen’s and Mark’s engagement party. Dark red-amber pour. Tropical fruit aroma and citrusy hop palate. Grapefruit and tropical fruit are the main flavors. Tasted very fresh. A touch earthy and considerable carbonation.

TheAlum (4283) - Lisle, Illinois, USA - OCT 21, 2012
Flight pour on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a rich copper pour, faint haze but essentially transparent. Deep glow and sunset elements, gorgeous hue with a frothy offwhite head that dies to a ring, laces small. Aromas are citrusy grapefruit, juice, and lemons. Touches of grass and florals, lots of grapefruit overall. Gentle bready sweetness, touch of biscuit. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, preaching some good grapefruit hop elements, grapefruit juice and tangerines, oranges, some lemon. Firm florals, some toffee, toast, and bready malts. Overall, a lighter body with a gentle toastiness and bready malt complex at the few times it does poke through, light and grapefruit ridden overall. Middle is a touch more malty, a kiss of caramel malts, but really more toasty, dry and grainy. Reall nice flavors, bigger grapefruit splash up front still trails off well. Good dryness, hopping linger into the finish even as some toasty and gentle sticky malts give some chase. Pretty solid IPA.

DoublEE (509) - South Euclid, Ohio, USA - OCT 17, 2012
Pours a clear sunset amber topped by over a finger of cream-colored foam. The nose: grapefruit zest, tangelo zest, light pineapple, and some very soft caramel bits. The taste holds notes of mild grass, orange zest, light grapefruit zest, sweet caramel, light biscuit, and a touch of light mint. The body is a light medium, with a very light carbonation and a subsequently very smooth feel. Overall, a solid, balanced IPA. .
