3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught from GI Clybourn 08/2008. Appears orange amber with thin off-white head, fairly opaque and hazy. Aroma is citrusy sweet floral hops. I get a lot of caramel in the body of this with a strong hoppy finish that is somewhat spicy and bites the tongue with grass and pin flavors. Quite a nice interesting balance of flavors in this beauty. Quite drinkable with medium to full body.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask conditioned at Clybourn and served in a MBA pint glass, my #101 Goose Island rating... Hazy golden hue with a creamy lasting head and left excellent lace upon the glass. The aroma has notes of piney and herbal hops, grapefruit, rye bread, a hint of butterscotch (which actually works here) and dusty yeast. The taste has a nice rye snap and hop twang with fruity and sweet bread background. The finish is dry and slightly hop spiced. Extremely rounded and deep flavor profile IMO. The mouth feel is soft and creamy as expected on hand pull, chalky dry finish. Very nice brew, god how I love most of the GI hand pull cask beers!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tapped today 7/29/08. Poured a hazed orange with a beige creamy head. Lots of fresh hops in the nose grapefruit, pine and grass with an all encompassing earthy rye that is more noticeable than most rye beers. Tons of rye in the flavor as well. The grassy pine and malt clash a little with the earthy rye but it works. Strong rye/hop bitterness in the finish. If you like rye you get it here, its not as hidden and balanced as most rye beers I’ve had, but a pretty good beer. 8/3/8/4/14 = 3.7

Draft at Clybourn. Poured a hazy light orange color with a white head. Pleasant aroma of caramel, butter, and flowery hops. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with moderate hop bitterness of about 5 out of 10. Nice and citrusy with spicy malt undertones. The buttery caramel and flower blossom that came out in the nose were also present in the flavor. Delicious beer.

On tap at the Clybourn pub. Amber pour, hoppy and spicey aroma. Taste is spicey, hoppy, and a bit sweet. Alcohol is noticeable, though not detracting. good take on an IPA.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Has the edginess you want from an IPA, combined with the pleasant slightly sweet, less cerealy flavor that the Rye brings to the table. Grabbed one growler to bring home - and will be bringing more home in the near future. One of GI’s better hoppy offerings.

on tap at GI LPB. pours hazy very light brown with small soapy white head. sorry but this just looks bad. aroma of citrus, pine, some woodiness. flavor is rather bitter, a bit harsh at times, grassy, piney, some citrus and spice. the malt and hop profile isn’t particularly pleasant and doesn’t jive well.
