From Goose Island comes this sour saison aged in wine barrels with Concord grapes from Klug Farms and B Brux. The grapes were pressed and both the must and skins were added. Enjoy!

8/11/12. GTMW. Deep golden amber pour with a nice khaki head. Sweet, jammy concord grape aroma on top of the light sourness and spiciness of Sofie. Sweet, jammy flavor that screams grape on top of the niceness that is already Sofie. Interesting and tasty, but not my favorite of their offerings that day.

UPDATED: JUN 23, 2012 Draft on tap at Three Floyds (Munster, IN). A pleasant surprise likely left over from the DLD Guest Stock. Quick jaunt down on a Friday sees the typical regular Happy Hour crowd. Pours a richer deep copper ruby glow, some grapefruit pinkness, firm haze and striking dark deep sunset hues come into the fold. Reddish shine, big cakey whitish head that shows some pink tinges. Cakes well, laces well overall. Aromas are a melange of lactobacillus, lemons and wine barrel, oak, grapefruit and tangerines. Gentle wine tannins grow with melon, touches of sweetness, firm jabs of yogurt, sour and tart citrus, gentle crab apple. Grapefruit really asserts itself as we get warmer. The Concord grapes give a touch of a sweeter tang, more of a white wine aroma, barrel gives it some dry oak, skins give the tannins and dryness. Touches of fuzx, funky gentle dusty brett grow as it warms a bit more. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied preaching an inviting sour and winey kick up front, wet oak and grapeskins give it some feel, moving into lactic acid, lemons, yogurt, grapefruit. Firm sour grapes, melon, crab apple grow into the middle. A firm and inviting sourness, a touch of acidity, as the winey element and that telltale Goose Island barrel flavor comes into play. Grapefruit, touch of cranberry, raspberry. Sour melon, grapes, and a prickly dry bretty funk, dust as we move intot he backend. Bit of cheesiness dies out quickly, with dryness, prickly and lively mouthfeel, finish. Good flavors, lingering funk as the sourness, grape and wine elements stick around. Pretty nice, a similar feel overall to the Goose Island 3 Sisters line as far as yeast and balance, richer and complex flavors. Nice job here. Lots of grapefruit, lingering lactic and bretty elements. This might be my favorite when compared to the 3 Sisters (Maybe Juliet compares) and seems in the same vein as the soured Sofie variants (Eva, Scarlett). The grapefruit and gentle wine essence really speaks to me. Great beer.
