Tap at ues pony. Pours muted yellow with not much head. Nose of grapefruit a and some oak. Tastes of Chardonnay and woody but mostly of juice. I likes grapefruit juice fine but this isn’t "beery" enough for me. Nice carbonation though

On tap at Madison’s pre-GTMW event - Pours clear golden with a thin white head. Nose is orange juice/orange soda, a touch of coriander, and light pale malt. Super refreshing. Taste is like a mimosa--light and orangey, with pale malt, coriander, and a touch of yeast. Smooth and really gently carbonated. This was fantastic.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2013 Pours hazy peachy lemon cloudy with a creamy white head. Aroma and flavor are very floral from the grapefruit and Sofie base, bringing smooth somewhat sweet lemon with a grassy nose. There is a ton of yeast influencing the nose, maybe some nutty funk in there as well. Flavors are filled with citrus fruits and some wild yeast as well.

Orange body, nice white head. Definite citrus aroma. Some sourness, cream, citrus, banana. Nice beer.

The aroma is light funk, grapefruit. Hazy yellow appearance, white head. The flavor is fruit, tart, sour, barnyard, grapes. The finish is tart fruit, grapes. Medium in body. Good.

Full disclosure: I tasted this while pouring for GI at the Blarney Stone Brew Fest in June. And my notes were very hasty. Sophie is already a favorite beer for me. This one is cloudy in my cup, and offers up a scent of grapefruit, but also some live Belgian yeast. Big tart taste, and nothing like the grapefruit radlers running around. Just a full on Belgian beer with plenty of sour that’s easily recognized as grapefruit. Luckily the base beer is still pretty sweet as a counter.

Draft from notes. Pours a hazy yellow. Very soft aroma and taste. Some light tart citrus and a little spicy yeast. Very good overall, i would gladly drink this everyday. Very refreshing.

On tap at 2013 GTMW, I enjoyed several samples of this during the fest, awesome stuff, pours a clear golden with a white head and spotty lacing, the aroma was all over the place but in a good way, tons of citrus mixed in with oranges and grapefruit, the flavor was really soft on the front end but has an awesome amount of fruit in the finish, crazy smooth and good, nice.

Pours gold with a thick white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, slightly sweet malt and grapefruit. Taste is bitter from the hops and grapefruit while slightly sweet and malty at the same time, very cool beer.

Pours a cloudy, pale golden yellow color with banana-like hues and a one finger, frothy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Good retention with steaks of soapy lace left behind. Visible carbonation bubbling up as well. Musty farmhouse aroma with earthy oak, zesty spice, banana bread, citrus rind and vinous light fruit. Subtle dry oak/toothpick complimenting the earthy saison character. Nice peppery spice presence with some coriander and clove in there. Vinous light fruit notes with light grape and white raisin. Sweet citrus pith with lemon peel/juice and grapefruit. Was expecting more grapefruit in the nose but I’m pickin up more funk, wine and lemon. On the lower end of medium body with soft carbonation that’s perfect for the style. Mouthfeel is very nice and the flavors are complex yet nicely balanced. Peppery spice up front with musty brett/farmhouse funk and a very strong citrus presence that lingers over the bread/yeast, light fruit and dry oak into a sweet, slightly dry finish. Grapefruit is much stronger than in the nose and nicely compliments the vinous barrel and lighter fruits. Nice white white presence with light grape and golden raisin but the barrel/oak is very faint. Complex and very flavorful yet it’s light and easy to drink. ABV is invisible. A lot of really nice flavors bouncing off of each other. Each sip reveals something different and everything blend together very well. The grapefruit juice/rind is a really nice addition to an already great beer.
