3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light cloudy lemon body with fizzy white head and a bit of lacing. Bubblegum and sweet yeasty aroma. Blast of tartness that fades. Taste is semi sweet yeasty with a touch of tartness and a dry finish. Not bad.

(Bottle) Clear, bubbly yellow body. Wispy white head. Aroma of orange peel, vanilla, black pepper, yeast. Medium body. Flavor is bright and tart; orange peel is especially evident on the back end; peppery and yeasty.

ENG: 765ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg, poured into the Teku. Strongly opalescent, yellow / straw / eggy color with huuuge, white glairy head. Aromas of tropical fruits, citrusy, very subtle bananas and cloves. Taste is very dissapointing, it’s like cheap sparkling wine mixed with lemon+banana juice with added water. Some sour aftertaste. Rather dry, low body, very high carbonation. Overall it is very drinkable, fruity, but I think too watery with very low flavor levels.
PL: Butelka 765ml zakupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg, przelana do Teku. Mocno opalizująca, żółto-jajeczna barwa, z ogromną, jasną, białkową pianą (duże bąbelki). Aromaty owoców tropikalnych, cytrusów, delikatne banany i goździki.

Sweet and sweet fragrance. Much citrus and a little yeast with a light fruity taste. Like this strong. Good bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth a weak moment. I liked this beer a lot. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A big 750mL bottle for my 9-double-dougnut rating... haven’t had one of these in a while, but seeing as GIBC was one of the very first craft beers I has when I moved to Chicago 21 years ago, this seemed a worthy beer to rate for the occasion. Pours a pale straw yellow, big white frothy head with decent retention and lacing. Nose is grassy, some mild funk, hints of white vinegar, chardonnay grapes, green apple. Mouth is light-medium bodied, lightly tart, creamy palate, bread dough, fresh cut hay, lemon grass, white pepper. Finishes with a subtle sweetness. Essentially almost everything about this one is subtle, which with all the extremism in the style you see from craft brewers lately, isn’t necessarily a bad thing. 900 bottles of beer on the wall, 900 bottles of beer... take ’em all down, buy me a new liver... 900 bottles of beer on the wall. ;-P

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours cloudy straw yellow with small white head.
Aroma of yeast, peaches, lemon and grass with a bit of funk. On the palate, the citrus note shifts to orange, and the funk is very polite, even bringing flowers. The advertised vanilla is just a hint, and the white pepper is also restrained.
It’s a nice medium body, with some effervescence, but "champagne" is a reach. An American take on a saison, this is a farmhouse surrounded by suburban tracts after the farm has been sold. But for the US, it’s a very good beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Goose Island Sofie has a medium, white head, a yellow-gold, quite bubbly appearance, with powdery sediment and minimal lacing. The aroma is of brettanomyces yeast, lemon, light wheat and barley, and sweetness. Taste is of the same elements, with noticeable, yet mild, bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Goose Island Sofie finishes champagne-like and drinkable. RJT

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
765ml bottle, Sept 3, 2014 bottle date. Hazy yellowy-straw body with a thick foamy white head over-top with some visible effervescence and sediment as well. Wild yeast presents itself on the the nose, that funky barnyard type. However that is underneath some tart green apple skin, wheat, coriander, pear, white pepper, white flowers, some other flower-based aromas I can’t quite pick out are present. Not quite as carbonated as other champagne-style beers (see: deus brut des flanders), but it is quite carbonated nonetheless. Not getting too much vanilla on the finish, more of a super subtle butterscotch/ green grape finish with medium bitterness. Body is a little thin, quite sessionable for the style and easily could be put in a bucket of ice and enjoyed throughout a meal.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light citrine color, cloudy, tall and persistent very white head. Fizzy, careful opening the bottle.
Pretty nose, floral but also amoniacal.
Light body, moderate flavor, palate cleaning mouthfeel, catches you by surprize if you are not familiar with the style.
Sour, dry, hardly any bitterness.
Yeasty, citrusy only in the acidity.
Not bad, if you care for the style. Probably occasionally a good starter for the night (about 4 oz), at best, but not my style.
