Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

Butelka75cl.

Pours a slightly hazy straw gold with a fairly tall eggshell cap that settles slowly and leaves some nice-looking ropes of foamy lace. Nose involves soft fruit notes of peach and white grape, a subtle funkiness, hearty bread dough, light spice, perhaps a light nuttiness. Lightly sweet, somewhat bitter, a touch tart. Light to medium bodied, creamy, fairly oily, decent action, finishing on the dry side with a lingering fruity toastiness. Not the most dynamic or refreshing saison, but it is delicate and enjoyable.

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on my birthday while watching Cubs vs. Sox. I can’t believe I’ve never had this one as it’s been out for forever. Appearance is champagne like, light and dry, bubbly, with a rich head that bubbles away relatively quickly. Aroma of clove, dry yeast, light pepper, light banana, light and good. Taste is more wine like than it is brew like, and I like that. Definitely finishes dry, peppery, feels like there is a lot going on and it melds together very nicely. Great stuff!

Draught. This is a nice tart brew for summer drinking on the porch or with a fish dish.

Pours lightly-hazed lemon straw into the glass, with a large soapy head that leaves soapy lacing. This one has been aging for 2 years (bottle-conditioned to age up to 5 years), and boy has it mellowed nicely! Flavors are full of yeasty esters and light barnyard grains. Flavors of light lemon, melon, curt grains, wheat and light spices meld together deliciously. The smooth, easy quaff has just enough lively carbonation to provide activity. Perfect summer brew here, and another great Goose Island offering. A nice, non-high gravity ageable complex summer offering?? Who’da thunk it? Awesome!

From a bottle at Delano's in Vegas. Pours a hazy gold and makes a thin white head and a bit of lacing. Aroma is of clove and coriander and a bit of citrus. Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. Tastes of spice and citrus and a bit of sour and wheat. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clove, banana, straw, a little bit of spice but not too much, with an orange zest finish. Pretty good.

Clear light orange-yellow pour., Medium to tall white head that sticks around fairly well. Grainy aroma, some spice, coriander, yeasty whiffs as well. Taste follows with heavier earthy notes. Overall fairly complex, although still not my favorite.
