Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

Pours with a foamy head, need to wait a while to pour all. Beautiful color, hazy golden with a lot of head. Smells of citrus, coriander, tastes tart, fresh, like spring. Great beer for a hot day.

Glass. Definitely sparkling with tart citrus grapefruit flavor. Dry, but refreshing. Maybe a little tiring to drink but unique.

his is a solid farmhouse. Higher ABV than expected in this style. Slightly less carbonated as well. But recommended.

Pours a hazy yellow colour with a wispy head to the bottom, but no lacing. The taste is full of pale malts and sour citrus Starts with a flash of soft pale malt flavours followed by tart lemon flavours, wheat and low key spiciness. Could almost be a champagne of beers. Very dry. Like it.

this one was different...poured from bomber 2012 vintage (06/20/12)...pour was a cloudy golden hue...nose had a sour banana and yeast thing going on...mouth was actually enjoyable..Belgian yeast spice and fruit...maybe green apples or pears...different but good...glad i tried.

Buying this beer was a bit like a community service. Two 4-packs of this and 2 of Matilda have been sitting on my supermarket warm shelf for over a year. I didnít think age would hurt it much (it hasnít) but I didnít think sitting on the supermarket shelf was good for it much either. But at $12.99 a 4-pack, the usual store shoppers were scrolling past with ferocity. Understandable. But as I stood there in a ticking mood, realizing this was 1 of 3 beers in the whole store I hadnít tried, and the other 2 were surely light struck over-priced Innis & Gunn 4-packs, I said fuck it. Well I canít quite get a handle on this beer. It variously tastes like a an interesting peppery doughy lightly bretted saison, and then a banana-clove phenolic tripel. Itís no secret which of those 2 I like and which I hate. Itís like a different beer sneaks into my glass every 10 minutes. But at least the lingering smell in the glass is the doughy grassy hop bretty side. Hazy golden yellow, thick meringue of a head.
