COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

A Mes rate. Bottle thanks to Ang.
Hazy yellow with a big frothy white head and lots of suspended particles. Nice yeasty nose with some pleasant fruit and obvious orange and barrel. Drinks like a sour weiss. Really well balanced, the orange and barrel show through really well but are not at all over powering. The wine notes add plenty of complexity and the overall impression is that of a very well crafted and balanced brew. Like it.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow beer with a large white head. The aroma is malt, fruit and yeast. The flavor is malt, fruit, yeast, sweetness and brett. The palate is sweet. Overall a good fruity beer.

Huge head on this beer. Just nice drinking and well done. The nose is very, very mild and the appearance is pale gold and cloudy. The taste is just solid and light and fruity. No specirfic taste to me just a very well structured belgian.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors.
Aroma: The nose full of spicy Belgian yeast notes. Clove, light lemongrass, and fresh cut grass in there too. Good stuff!
Appearance: It pours a cloudy, orange gold with a huge, foamy, white head. This is one active brew. Great head retention and spotty lacing left behind.
Taste: Light and spicy with Belgian yeast really coming through. A bit of anise, clove, citrus peel, a peppery note, and lots of floral hops. Perfect for a hot day.
Palate: Light in body with above average carbonation and a slightly dry, floral finish.
Overall: A very nice brew indeed and certainly worth trying
Score: 8.4.8.3.15

12 oz, capped bottle, fresh 2010 bottle: hazed lemon-straw body below a creamy, ivory head that slowly dies into a wisps and collects at the edges. Light, airy orange rind aroma that has a wonderfully subtle, while at the same time striking floral, honeydew melon and sourdough starter presence. Tingly pepper on the tip of the tongue that becomes gentle though the mouth before a second citrus hop resin and pepper finish mixes with a fruity sourness catches your attention. Another wonderful belgian style ale from the folks up in Chicago! Thanks Nit!

Had this on tap at the 2010 Oregon Brewer’s Festival. Colour... golden straw with a thick head. Nose... acetic, yet fruity. Palate... lightly sweet, with quince, pear and lime zest and a delightfully long finish.

2009 bottle at ChrisO’s "Raise the Roof" tasting, 31st July 2010. Hazy very light yellow. Light citric nose. Delicate beer, pretty decent.

Bottle at Empty Bottle. Hazy, yellow orange color. Pronounced floral barley and sugary Belgian yeast aroma. Yeasty and rich, a well executed beer. Creamy, with some slight alcohol warning in the finish. Excellent.

Big soft white head. Sweet fruity aroma, with flavor of raspberry, green apple and yeast. Smooth and very drinkable.

Bottle @ Chriso’s pre-GBBF ’Raise the Roof’ Tasting ’10. Light, golden yellow coloured body with some haze and a dense and frothy white head. Herbs & spices, some creamy vanilla and sharpish citrus aromas. Quite bright on lemony with estery yeast, pepper and wheat and a touch of pithy orange. Some light carbonation sting, light in body with a relatively short estery Belgian bitterness in the finish.
