COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

Don’t remember who let me have this, but thanks! Slightly funky and fruity. High carbonation. Pretty good and refreshing.

A-pours a slightly hazy pale straw color with a thin bubbly white head. S-light toasted biscuity malt up front taken over by yeast and sweetness. lots of yeast, notes of lemon, touch of orange, hint of musky cellar, herbs and some floral soapy notes. T-sweet lemon right up front, lots of wheat and yeast, hint of toasted biscuit, a good bit of floral sopay notes, hints of herbal hops, citrusy orange, and a touch of bitterness in the finish. M-very grainy feel, quite chewy and thick, full bodied and syrupy with a good carbonation and a strong crisp finish. D-this is pretty darn tasty with a good balance of sweet and toasted malt, I really enjoy this and love the thick chewy body.

Flavor and Palate : light and clean. Meadow like hints with golden malt below. Light hint of hop noted. Pleasant brew.

(Old BA rate - bottle) ight greenish-yellow hue; mostly clear; poured with a thinner pure white head. Fresh white grapes; yeasty; a bit tart and sour; bit of earth/wood. A little vinous; green grapes; bit woody; touch of sweeter apples and pears. Medium to thinner; very vibrant and bubbly carbonation. Great stuff here; lightish and dry overall; tasty. Overall, an interesting take on the style and I very much enjoyed this one.

2010-06-18. Hazy pale pastel yellow body with a modest white head. Modest aroma, floral character, grassy, touch of spice. 7+ Flavour is similar, light bitterness throughout, interesting melange of spice and mild herbal notes. 7+ Average palate is very lightly carbonated which make sit feel lighter than it really is. Very very drinkable, but just a touch mild overall. A little bit more of everything would step it up a notch. Enjoyable. Bottle shared by Blankboy

Sampled at American Craft Beer Fest 2010. Pours dark golden. Aroma of doughy malts with the Belgian, spicy yeast. Thick texture, and a nice spiciness to the finish. A good beer.

pours very clear and could easily be mistaken for a pilsner or kolsch from its appearance. However, when you take a sip you are treated to very rich flavors of orange, coriander, straw, and hay, with almost a creamy flavor (not texture) quality that’s hard to describe. Very clean and not bitter in the least. An outstanding brew.

From a 22oz Bottle. Mostly transparent, brassy gold colored body with a thick head of pillowy white foam. Notes of apple and pear esters with a prominent orange citrus note that gets stronger as it warms. Faint herbal hops and bready malt. Light bodied, moderate-heavy carbonation with a dry, yet soft texture. Fresh bread dough malty/yeasty flavor accented by the orange citrus. The orange is a fresh, clean flavor, but less would be nice. Hints of vanilla and lemon meringue. A suggestion of brett in the finish with a light, pinot grigio-esque vinous character lingering on the palate. Could use more yeast character; the body is nice and light, but the lack of malt or hops focuses the attention on the spice additions (i.e. orange peel) and more fermentation character (e.g. pepper, tropical fruit) would help add some depth.

22 oz. bottle. Bottled on 02/19/10. Pours a light, fluffy, lasting white head, of long duration, over a slightly hazy yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is apple/pear, light citrus, bit of coriander.....taste is light sweet malt to start, then clove, lemon, finishing with a light pepper bite and light bitterness.....mouth feel is medium, carbonation adds a pleasant spritz. This is true to its style. It is light, refreshing, and has all of the spice and fruit flavors it should. BJCP 7/3/15/5/7

Shared with a friend on a warm evening. Nice appearance in the glass. Poured hard to get a nice 2 inch frothy head. The aromas where sweet, peppery and some citrus. Flavors the same, including more pepper and orange. A nice Saison. Very drinkable and enjoyable.
