Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

pure white foam sits upon a golden cloudy pour. Yeasty nose with tropical fruit - I was expecting maybe a simple trippel. But I was wrong. Quite light and tart. Citrus come through and it a bit drying on the palate. If this were a bit stronger, Iíd rate it higher.

Pours to a pale golden body with a ton of sexy visible carbonation and a starch white head. Lots of gorgeous lacing. The aroma is spicy hops, orange peel, and peppery yeasts. The flavor is oranges, hay, spicy hops, clean yeasts, and a light white grape. The palate is super easy drinking. Itís quite surprising that the heavy carbonation doesnít conflict with the beer. It makes for a velvety texture. Kind of like a sweet champagne.

[í10 Bottle] Pours clear (until the yeast pour at the bottom) gold with a nice big white head that quickly diminishes to nearly nothing. Aroma is mainly light citrus (lemon) and wheat. Taste is light papaya, a little orange, mild acidity, alcohol, some peppery notes, tannins, and nice underlying wheat. Good, creamy mouthfeel, above average length finish. A bit hot, but overall a nice saison. I really like the level and influence of the wheat.

This is a nice, light, crisp drinker. Aroma is full of citrus and spices. Taste is subtle with orange notes, spices and a great fizz.. It is light in nature and not filling at all.

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2013 12 ounce bottle from Beverage Barn Garden City Park in Duvel glass. Hazy golden orange with white ring. Fruity orange floral spicy aroma. Very fruity sweet pineapple orange pineapple syrup vanilla with lingering sweet and spicy orange candy finish. Medium body. Too fruity sweet for my tastes. Certainly doesnít need extra orange peel in there. Overwrought. Decent, but not near the tops in saison (imho). Fresher bottle (9/21/13) much better. Something weird in the aroma BUt nice complex tropical fruits and peppery finish. From 3.0 to 3.8.

Simple, attractive label. Big, foaming head. Light pour. Very fruity aroma. A pleasantly sweet Belgian ale.

22 oz. bomber. 2010 vintage. Bottled 02/19/10, bottle 1632. Pours a hazy golden peach color with a small foamy white head that dissipates quickly. It leaves a little lace but not much. It has a clean, typical scent for the style. It is definitely in the style of Saison DuPont. It has an abundance of fruitiness atop a slight mustiness form the yeast. It has a farmhouse scent, but not an overpowering one. It is still a young beer though. The taste follows the nose, but with a heightened fruitiness. It has a lot of lemony tartness. It pretty much is a lemony bread. It tastes like the countryside. There is a bit of banana and clove int he aftertaste. Not much funk in the taste though. The mouthfeel is a bit over carbonated but it makes for a refreshing beer. This one is supremely drinkable, it is the perfect summer beer. Overall this is a great one from Goose Island. This is the quintessential flavor I look for in a Saison. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-16-2010 03:14:24
