Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

Bottle. Pours a light and clear golden yellow with a short-lived foamy white head. Nose is sweet, spicy, and fruity with moderate citrus and some vanilla. Light, heavily carbonated, dry. Nice spicing and a good hit of fruity tones with some mild yeast.

Bottle (Gotta love the label -- gorgeous packaging).

Probably my favorite goose island beer to date, especially if I don’t view it as a saison. Aroma is the distinctive house character of their belgian-style yeast, plus a very nice tart oaky bite from the wine barrels. Too strong on the banana esters for my taste and too sweet for a saison in my book, it nonetheless is a very nice beer largely because of the magic that took place in the barrels.

Bottle. Aroma of orange, vanilla cream, oak and a subtle sour funky fruity note that is just so delicate and charming. What a sweety of a beer. Pale yellow orange hue with a large white foamy head that diminished and left good lace. Taste is sweet and fruity with a creamy finish. Palate is medium bodied and lively. What a beautiful, charming and sweet beer. Like a refined young woman kissed by the late afternoon sun. Elegant and delecious. Sofie, I love you, now give me some sugar baby :)

22oz bottle. Brilliant gold with a creamy, medium-sized white head. The aroma is fruity and sweet with prominent apricot and tangerine backed by frosting sweetness and a touch of oaky white wine. The flavor has a sweet candied pils malt thing going on with a touch of vinous character that manifests in alcohol and oak. Big orange fruitiness. Sweet and lightly syrupy in the finish, but light in body overall with lively carbonation. Somewhat interesting but too sweet and orange-dominated ovaral.

Bomber. Pours pale yellow with plenty of rising bubbles. Tastes like a crisp, dry saison. Aromas of bubblegum, citrus, and slight pepper. Citrus, sugars, oak, vanilla in the taste.

Bomber from Bevmo. Pours light, straw yellow with a fizzy white head and specks of lace. Smells bready and yeasty sweet with hints of wine barrel, biscuits and straw. Tastes sweet and bready and yeasty. Grains first, than sweetness. Slight wine flavors and barely any wood character. Medium body, vibrant carbonation.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2011 Bottle. 12 oz. Split with James and Tony. Pours a cloudy golden-yellow with a thin, bubbly white head. Aroma of lavender, corriander, vanilla, dry grapes, yeast, orange peel, grass, and small notes of honey. Medium bodied with a clean, slightly dry, sweet palate. Finishes with a floral sweetness. Excellent saison from Goose Island.

Had with James and pat. Pours a hazy light gold. No noticeable head. Aroma and flavor are similar to a wheat. So much corriander and orange peel. Spices are well balanced.
