COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

9 month old bottle from Brooks Place Tavern. Pale orange and hazy appearance with a lacy white head. Aroma of tart fruits, yeast, herbs, floral notes, citrus zest, light peppery spice and light white wine notes. Similar flavor, crisp and smooth with a medium body. Nicely done American saison.

765 ml bottle into wine glass. Belgium style saison, my favourite style. Love this beer. Funk, yeasty, citrus, micro-carbonation, dry finish. Pours straw yellow with big, fluffy white head. Complex taste, tart and bitter and mild spice to start, but mildy sweet finish. Love the balanced funk (Bret). Buy lots and start a vertical.

Pours a clear yellow color with a pretty big white head and lots of carbonation. Nose is lemon, some apple, white wine, sour candy, banana, kind of funky. Sour taste you can definitely feel the citrus lingering in the mouthfeel. Medium body. Pretty good.

765ml? bottle. Light golden pour with a white head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving a bit of lace. Fairly funky nose with some apple notes and a certain white wine quality. On the palate there’s an interesting slice note with a more notable wine character. The funk is a little less pronounced and the finish lasts quite a while.

Bottle picked up from Ralphs in Studio City, CA. I am enjoying my last beer for a few months as I start winter triathlon training, so I am very happy I picked this guy up today. Pours a murky golden hue with a medium white head that is mostly diminishing. Lively carbonation as well. Aroma is yeasty with lots of hints of barn yard. I smell some banana and ginger in there as well. Smells like its going to be one refreshing brew! Aroma is yeasty, with a slight tart beginning that fades to spicy middle and end. Light mouthfeel with lively carbonation

Best Saison I have had to date. Big, bold and wonderful notes fo apple, white grapes, lemon, yeast, wheat, floral hops and clean basement. Light and hazy piss yellow with a sexy white topper following the action downward. Tart, lightly funked, bitter up front and sweet but not cloying on the back end. A curious spiciness lingers inviting more suckling upon this mid carbonated and very lightly oily temptress.

Poured a light hazy straw with massive frothy white head. Aroma is giant musty old basement, vinegar, citrus and herbs. Tastes of herbs, candy, orange peel, lemon, and a bit vinous. Has a medium chewy body with low carbonation and a little tart that leaves a refreshing bitterness near the end. Very good lacing and very easy to drink. A real pleasure.

Smells of raspberry, yeast, citrusy and grassy. Pours as a clear gold liquid with a thick white head. Tastes bright, bitter, straw like, pear. Lacks the funk that is usually associated with this style. Light body, high carbonation dry finish. A well executed ale, likely has more in common with champagne than beer, but is very enjoyable. Although it is well executed, it is lacking the funk and fringe flavour that I love with this style.

"a nice little saison, though it’ll be hard to go back to, given the premium price. a little too funky outta the bottle, but the aroma got better once it was poured. still some barnyard, but not overpowering. just a touch of the orange peel in the aroma and flavor. more earthy/grassy and peppery. would make a very nice summer brew in six-pack form, but not for $8-9 per bottle."

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with an ample, frothy white head. Aroma of citrus, bananas, and sugary candy. Tastes of oranges, lemons, and white cracker. Is tart and then spicy. A carbonated crisp, dry palate.
