COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

Brewed in the USA !!! Courtesy of AFI96..Thanks Waylo. Pours a hazy yellow color with a very small white head. Aroma of sour white grapes, lemon peels and some barnyard funk. Taste is also kind of funky with some mild spices, wheat, yeast and cloves. Mouthfeel has a slight bite on the tongue when you first sip this saison yet it doesnít finish in the same manner.

Pours a hazy yellow colour with a wispy head to the bottom, but no lacing. The taste is full of pale malts and sour citrus Starts with a flash of soft pale malt flavours followed by tart lemon flavours, wheat and low key spiciness. Could almost be a champagne of beers. Very dry. Like it.

this one was different...poured from bomber 2012 vintage (06/20/12)...pour was a cloudy golden hue...nose had a sour banana and yeast thing going on...mouth was actually enjoyable..Belgian yeast spice and fruit...maybe green apples or pears...different but good...glad i tried.

Buying this beer was a bit like a community service. Two 4-packs of this and 2 of Matilda have been sitting on my supermarket warm shelf for over a year. I didnít think age would hurt it much (it hasnít) but I didnít think sitting on the supermarket shelf was good for it much either. But at $12.99 a 4-pack, the usual store shoppers were scrolling past with ferocity. Understandable. But as I stood there in a ticking mood, realizing this was 1 of 3 beers in the whole store I hadnít tried, and the other 2 were surely light struck over-priced Innis & Gunn 4-packs, I said fuck it. Well I canít quite get a handle on this beer. It variously tastes like a an interesting peppery doughy lightly bretted saison, and then a banana-clove phenolic tripel. Itís no secret which of those 2 I like and which I hate. Itís like a different beer sneaks into my glass every 10 minutes. But at least the lingering smell in the glass is the doughy grassy hop bretty side. Hazy golden yellow, thick meringue of a head.

A: hazy amber yellow with a tight small champagne-esque head that dissipates fairly quickly S: again champagne and not much else that smells like a beer. slightly sour aroma T: immediately dry and winy at the same time. now i get a bit of bread from the malt but the wine barrel still dominates flavor. not bad but different. little to no hop taste detected M: medium body. lovely fine carbonation. again much like champagne. winy finish is actually nice O: overall a good beer if you can concentrate on the fact that this is a beer and not wine. nice for some occasions i guess but i prefer to stick to something that doesnít take me so long to drink. nice offering although quite expensive from GI.

12 oz. bottle dated 2012, a gusher. Cloudy, pale gold pour. Aroma of wild yeast, pears, citrus. Very tart and refreshing, smooth and easy to drink. Recommended.

750 mL. bottled 07 Oct 2014. Active body is golden with a lasting film of bubbles. Aroma of spicy pollen, honey and light fruits - white grape, apple, peach and mild orange zest. A touch of bubblegum and wheat as well. Flavors of white grape, honey, lightly tart apple, pear, aromatic flowers and spicy vanilla. Gum and wheat flour on the finish. Light-medium body is too fizzy for my tastes, but very drinkable nonetheless.

Very carbonated and tart with a thin body. Canít taste much of the wine barrel or orange peel. Interesting beer but a bit disappointed in it.
