The rich, red luster of our Special Pale Ale is almost as inviting as the deliciously hoppy nose. Loads of Centennial, Columbus, Amarillo and Cascade hops give the characteristic bite of West Coast style Pale Ales, while the unique combination of Pale Ale and Special B malts make this beer a true Goose Island original. Served in a Pint glass.

I am pretty sure this is what I had at DLD the growler said SPA. A little hazy light color with some red and orange hues. Some light citrus taste to it and a light bitterness.

On cask
Pours a slightly cloudy copper with a puffy foamy white head that never quite goes away and leaves generous lacing on the way down. Aroma almost nonexistent though what is there is basically classic English hop spice and some malt. Flavor is of modest intensity as befitting the style, with sharp hop spice up front, a bit of light malt sweetness in the background, and a nice fruity touch tying it all together. Thinnish plate, again to style. Not mind-blowing, but done right.

Cask at the Goose Island Tavern, Wrigleyville, Chicago. This cpper beer has a large, frothy head and a rich, chewy palate. The flavour is full and dry with a long, lingering bitterness. It was in good condition and served at the perfect temperature.

Really solid Pale Ale. Nice hints of citrus, solid malt background, and overall a West Coast feel to this pale ale, without just "being hoppy".

draft. Enjoyed this one at the brew-pub across from Wrigley field, great color, nice malt character to balance the healthy dose of hops, oily and citrus. very nice!

At Goose Island, not the clybourn one, the other one. Was the best out of the samples. Good with a burger, as I found out.

48-hr. old FREE growler from GI Clybourn. I love the MBA Program. Poors bright orange/red with little carbonation or head. Did they fill the growler from the cask?!? Good grapefruit hoppy aroma and classic west coast pale-ipa flavor. Kind of a watered down Alpha King. Good effort. Better fresh on tap if memory serves me right.
