Sampled at the brewpub. Pours a hazy orange with a white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a nice sweet wheat note with a light clove backing and a hint of light fruits. Flavor has the same nice wheat note with light clove again and a good amount of clove and a lot of banana in the finish/aftertaste.

Draft in a sampler at the Clybourn brewpub. Pours a hazy, dull straw color with just a little bit of orange in there. Small white head. Notes of citrus, wheat, straw, clove, banana, and mineral water. Light-bodied, with a dry, wheaty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Fine for a summer refresher.

Flight on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a hazy golden pour, dulled with flashes of orange, glows firmly with a touch of amber, a cakey offwhite head sits atop, stays larger through out and laces ok. Aromas are a melange of citrusy orange, apples and banana esters. Flaked wheat, bready malts, dry grains and grass, a bit husky. More lemon and flaked wheat give a lively citrus and fruity presence on the nose, gentle clove and spice further in. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied giving a firm citrusy lemon element up front, gentle acidity, orange taper into apples, bananas, and bready malts. Gentle dryness, tart elements in the middle offer more bready and dry malts, flaked wheat, dough, and grains. Backend gives the spicy elements, yeasty life, touches of clove. Lingering finish of gentle estery fruit, lemon after that firm yeasty and clove spicing. Solid and fresh, which is always a plus for a Hefe. Nose really pops. Solid overall but tapering off for me from the nose and front end into the finish.. Lacks finishing power as the spice and yeast takes over my palate.. Would like the fruit to pop and sustain longer into the back (personal preference). Still, it’s better than many brewpub Hefe offerings and something I would revisit.. Though I’d rather grab it’s Witbier counterpart if it’s on (Willow Street)

Tap: Hazy deep golden hue with some reddish highlights, good head. The aroma has notes of hops, banana, clove, black pepper and pils malt. The taste is a bit too hoppy and too spicy for it’s own good. The Weizen character seems lost in it all. The mouth feel is sprite and refreshing. Not much of a fan.

On draft at brewpub, pours a hazy yellow color, aromas of mostly bananas, light clove and a touch of hops. Flavors are the same, ripe banana, light clove, light black pepper at the end, light and refreshing, nice beer overall.

On tap at Goose Island Wrigley. Served in a sampler glass. Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a nice, fluffy white head. Good lacing. Nose carries banana, clove, and a bit of bubble gum. Flavor is similar. Good yeastiness and a bit of bready malt in the background. Mouthfeel is light-medium. Pretty good.

Last August, on tap at the brewpub. I agree with the other reviews. It looks like a nice hefeweizen & has generous wafts of banana aroma but when you start to drink it the banana quickly becomes too much. I was mistakenly given a 22oz glass of it which is way too much! Maybe 6-8oz would be fine & refreshing without becoming cloyingly sweet.

Waaay too much banana in this one. The appearance is interesting. You can wait an hour and this thing will not settle. It looks like really pulpy orange juice. The spicing is not particularly subtle, but the banana dominates. Can’t finish one on my own. Tried with Dave at the brewpub in Chicago, Aug. 2012.

Draft at goose clybourn, pours hazy...Uh...color of clam juice (wait ive never seen clam juice) with a white head. Menu called it pale straw. Okay. Odd bile red color for the style anyway I digress, aroma has banana and clove with faint strawberry. Flavors bring in a nice sweet mild fruit of strawberry and grapefruit into the standard mix of banana and clove. Long banana and peppery notes. Med bodied. Refreshing and comes off pretty good even though it looks like no Hefeweizen I’ve ever had.

Draft at Clybourn. Pours a hazy orangey gold. The nose is really nice. Light citrus note, some vanilla, pepper and banana. Some sweetness to the nose, faint clove. On tasting, quite clean overall, not overbearingly phenolic. Good banana and white pepper balance. Medium sweet with a dry finish. Has that candy note in the mid palate as well. Really nice Hefe here.
