Commercial Description:
Kolsch, the clean and refreshing beer style of Cologne, Germany, quenches summertime thirst. This pale golden ale with a lightly fruity aroma is cold-conditioned or lagered after its primary fermentation. More simply, our Summertime uses only the finest malts and German hops to create the perfect beer for hot Summer days and warm Summer nights.

Bottle. Pale golden color, thin white head, some lacing. Lemon and grass in the aroma, the flavor is citrusy and sweet with a great dry finish. The mouthfeel is maybe a tad thin, but not for a summer beer, and well-carbonated, refreshing. Overall, I’d say this beer tastes like summer, if that makes sense, and would be great on a hot summer day. By all means, a great session beer while watching a baseball game or grilling.

Bottle poured light golden, with thin white head. Some citrus fruit and vague hopiness in the aroma. Flavour not too awful but aftertaste dishwateresque. Expected a lot better. Insipid and very disappointing. Would not try again during any season.

Bottled, 355ml, from Westholme Stores, Goring on Thames, Oxon. Yellow gold with slight head. How dissapointing is this? Meek, malty and largely flavour free, now I know that Kolsch’s are hardly the most flavour full beers but this doesn’t even touch most Kolsch’s. Some lemon / vanilla, verging on the level of poor. Oh Dear.

Bottle. Golden with a small head and a decent sparkle. Aromas are clean, fresh and floral with biscuit malts. Hints of citrus and soap. Flavours are floral and citrus with herbal notes. Some addictive saltiness. Dry on the finish. Fresh as a Summer day.

Bottle at home ... typical lager hop aroma ... grass hop ... quite sweet unusually so ... clean finnish with a little lager hop linger.
