Kolsch, the clean and refreshing beer style of Cologne, Germany, quenches summertime thirst. This pale golden ale with a lightly fruity aroma is cold-conditioned or lagered after its primary fermentation. More simply, our Summertime uses only the finest malts and German hops to create the perfect beer for hot Summer days and warm Summer nights.

light gold color with very minimal head. Smells of sweat biscuit malt, grass, hay, skunkiness... Body is very thin. Some bitterness in the finish. Taste is mostly bready malt and skunk. Overall, not terrible but not very impressed.

12oz bottle. - Pours a hazy, bright yellow color with a one inch thick head that lingers. Smells of lemon citrus, a slight funk, and light spices. Taste is lightly sweet with lemon, pale malts, grains, wheat, and spicy hops. Light bodied with high carbonation.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/12/2013. Pours slightly cloudy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, grape, cracker, bread, wheat, floral, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, grape, cracker, bread, wheat, floral, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of light fruits, cracker, bread, wheat, floral, grass, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; with no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good kolsch style. Good balance of flavors, and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle pours with a clear gold body that supports a bright white head. The aroma comes across sweet with malts and then faint floral hops and sweet wort like grainy malts. The taste begins with a mix of sweet cherry fruity esters, floral hops and sweet malts. It gets more and more grainy midway and into the finish which helps cover up the bit of esters I’m getting. Decent but this sways to the sweet side for the style.

12oz Bottle. The pour was a clear pale golden yellow with a large (2-3 finger) white fluffy head that was mostly diminishing, down to a light scattered film and small collar with fair spotty lacing. The aroma was moderately heavy of a grain malt, a hint of floral and perfume hops and a light moldy yeast with a note of citrus (lemon). The taste was a light malty sweet with a hint of citrus in the beginning, and then became mildly hoppy with a decent grainy feel and a crisp bitter finish. The flavor lasted a long time following the swallow, with a light grainy bitterness lingering on for just a while longer. Mouthfeel was light in body with a watery yet mildly dry texture and an almost lively carbonation. Overall this was a decent representation of this style. It was crisp, clean and slightly hoppy, which made it a very easy and smooth drinking brew... www.facebook.com/KAJIIsBeerReviews

It’s clear, glassy yellow on color, highly carbonated, with a healthy, bright white head. It has a very pleasant, slightly sweet and almost fruity fresh grain aroma with only a hint of lagering. I’m really surprised how much I like it. It’s flavor is clean and just like the aroma, with that same slightly fruity grain character, but with a touch of hay-like hops. It’s pleasing on all accounts, refreshing, slightly dry in the finish, but very clean overall and perfect to beat the heat while still offering a very enjoyable flavor. Good job, Goose Island. You impressed me.
