Jul 20, 2006 On tap 7/14 @ the Brewpub in Wrigleyville: Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma has mild hints of fruits and citrus. Flavor is sweet with a mild hoppiness and a watery feel. Refreshing on a hot Chicago Day.

Jul 18, 2006 Hoppy nose, some malt, opaque amber, pours a small head. Mild malt flavour, slight hop influence. Light bodied, crisp, refreshing. Fair. Not a Kolsch!

Jul 16, 2006 Pours a very light and dirty straw color with a white frothy head. Aromas are of grass and lemon, but a bit of a scuzzy smell that I can’t quite figure out. Flavor is similar... there’s something that disagrees with me in this one, but it’s hard to pin down. In spite of all that, it is very crisp and has a light texture that is nice, just the aroma and the finish are not going to make me a fan.

Jul 15, 2006 Draught at Old Chicago in Coralville, IA. Hazy golden color with foamy white head that laced the glass. Subdued sprucy hop and light citrusy aroma. Flavor was similar with an overall dearth of hop flavor. Dry, crisp and refreshing. Unfortunately it is better to gulp this one than sip it.

Jul 10, 2006 Pours an almost clear yellow with a lasting thick white head. Dusty lemon peel nose. A bit doughy watered down citrus flavor leaves a scum feeling on my tongue. A bit of lingering toast in the finish. This is really not working for me. The flavors taste muted somehow that I find hard to explain.

Jul 8, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Hazy yellow with a smallish fizzy white head. Mild aroma, grain, honey, light yeast, hint of paper, glue and apple. Taste is pretty nice - light juicy malt, a hint of fruit-sweetness, and nicely balancing mild herbal hops. Mouthfeel is watery, a little flat, not very carbonated, and the papery character re-emerges as an odd aftertaste - not bad, but a little disappointing ...

Jul 5, 2006 Pours a very cloudy (that’s bad!) straw color with a loosely knit head. The aroma is slightly biscuity and way too fruity for the style. The body is med-light with really low CO2. Flavors are grassy and sweet malt. Not nearly attenuated enough. Want to try a great Kolsch in the area? Go over to Piece. That’s an amazing Kolsch.
