Commercial Description:
Kolsch, the clean and refreshing beer style of Cologne, Germany, quenches summertime thirst. This pale golden ale with a lightly fruity aroma is cold-conditioned or lagered after its primary fermentation. More simply, our Summertime uses only the finest malts and German hops to create the perfect beer for hot Summer days and warm Summer nights.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold-yellow with a small white head. The aroma is minerally, bready, and has a slight fruity hop component. The flavour has some minerals and light fruit-loop hops. Brackish mouthfeel and generally mediocre and boring. Sampled at Cole’s in Buffalo on June 24, 2006.

Bottle. Light golden yellow, small white head. Pleasant mild grainy aroma. Flavour is quite light, mild grainy malt. Average palate. Pleasant summer quaff but not very exciting.

A typical summer beer: light in both body and aroma, as well as light and refreshing in mouthfeel, and there’s not a whole lot too them. Very crisph, refreshing. Ever-so-slightly hoppy, with a handful of lemons/citrus flavors and a decent balanced of hops and malts. Slightly fruity, but not sweet at all.

Bottle: Clear light gold in color, small white head. Aroma was a little lemon, some yeast, and a touch grassy. Flavor, a light fruitiness, some pale malts, and a little floral bitterness on the finish. not bad.

12 oz bottle. Slightly hazy, very pale golden beer, thin white head and nice carbonation. Pale malt, bread yeast and a very subtle honey aroma. Crisp and clean. A hint of crisp sulphury character through the middle and a minerally flavour toward the finish. Really subtle, crisp and clean flavour. Light apple esters as it starts to warm. Nice refreshing brew.

From a twist cap long neck brown bottle with a best before date on the back label, 06/20/06. Made a good appearance, poured a slightly hazy pale golden with a nice foamy white head that settled into a thin foamy lacing, fair amount of sticking, good carbonation. Had a tasty nose of dry cereal and crackers, grassy and herbal with a subtle fruitiness at the edges. A crisp, dry and smooth light bodied mouth feel, good summer drinkability. Refreshing tasting, a dry cereal and grainy maltiness, herbal with a light lemon fruitiness in the middle and a dry grainy finish with a nice grassiness lingering in the palate. Maybe because I worked up a good sweat before I tried this beer from Goose Island, but I thought it quite enjoyable and a good summer brew, especially on a hot summer day.
