Commercial Description:
Kolsch, the clean and refreshing beer style of Cologne, Germany, quenches summertime thirst. This pale golden ale with a lightly fruity aroma is cold-conditioned or lagered after its primary fermentation. More simply, our Summertime uses only the finest malts and German hops to create the perfect beer for hot Summer days and warm Summer nights.

Bottle poured light golden, with thin white head. Some citrus fruit and vague hopiness in the aroma. Flavour not too awful but aftertaste dishwateresque. Expected a lot better. Insipid and very disappointing. Would not try again during any season.

A wonderful example of the style. Gentle floral hops and rich wheat texture. Noticed a bit of natural lemon flavor (none added!!) Not as bitter as Schlafly's, if I remember right. Tasty, refreshing and readily available in Kansas.

After a hot day mowing this is a great beer. Very light with a small head. Wheat aroma and taste with a slight bitter hop finish.

Very light golden, little to no head. Light grass and a touch of citrus sourness. Dry at the front getting towards lemon, not all that sour though, just reminiscent of lemon. Spritzy and dry with a somewhat roasty hop presence. Might not be the freshest sample, but I think there should be more flavors noticeable than what were.

On tap at Wrigleyville Goose Island. Poured gold with a white head. Aroma was of barley and malts. Flavor had some underlying sweet notes, but other than that, quite basic.

This is the first beer I am drinking today...on my birthday. YEA. Happy Birthday Me. I am telling you this because I can't say much good about this beer. It has alcohol and it taste like beer...that's about it.

(06.15.06) On tap at Goose Island Brewpub, Wrigleyville, IL. Poured hazy golden yellow with small white head. No discernable carbonation. Grassy malt aroma. Light bodied beer that starts with light malt sweetness and corn flavor. Finished with light malt fade. Little to no hop presence. Clean tasting and refreshing, this is a decent drinkable malty beer.

On my old rating scale this comes through with a 3.4 maybe even 3.5 but with the new and maybe improved maybe not scaling system it scores a still sweet 3.3. Drank this on a hot afternoon waiting for my butter covered filet to finish cooking. Lite fruit flavors mixed with a bit of honey a hint of malt. Refreshing to say the least. Pretty good.
