COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ten Hills traces its story to Elk Mountain Farms in Idaho, famous for growing hops of exceptional quality and character. With hops from the "first ten hills" grown for Goose Island at Elk Mountain, we crafted a pale ale that delivers both a herbal and citrus hop character. We hope you’ll find the intriguing balance of flavors in this beer to be truly unparalleled. Cheers!

Bottle poured an amber color with a thin coating of white head. Beer has mild hops, a fair bit of malt for a pale ale, and a lingering finish.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/22/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear deep orange/copper color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apple, light pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, apple, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Good amount of pine and earthy herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, apple, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity, balance, and robustness of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and a light lingering bitter astringency after the finish; but not too bad. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp/sticky, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good pale ale style. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of citrus/earthy hops and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Good APA, spruce, apricot and bread. Hops and malt pretty equally balanced. Respectable session beer. Sorry to see Goose Island bought out by AB- InBev.

Goose Island does it again. This is a good lighter beer that has a complex taste and good combo of malts and hops.

Draft @ Holiday Inn CAK. Slightly hoppy aroma. Clear amber color, with white head, slowly dissipates, nice lacing. Very pleasant bitter taste, very smooth. Med, appropriate body. Overall, a very drinkable pale ale.

Thanks to Dave for this fresh, robust APA. This features herbal, lightly minty hops. A good, snappy example of the style.

Copper body beneath a white head. Weak retention but lacing is noticable. Aroma is more malt focused but floral hops are present. A little butterscotch in the flavor, but not offputting by any means. Sweeter finish than most in this style. Notthing mindblowing, but not bad either. I would buy this again. Decent for the style, but there are better examples out there.

Tasted at the 2015 Centennial Beer Fest from bottle into sampler glass. It poured a clear golden amber colour with thin but peristent white foam. Good blend of malty sweetness and hoppy bitterness with loads of citrusy, fruity, spicy, and resiny flavours. A nice mix of noble and New World aspects. Light-medium body, strong carbonation, noticeable alcoholic strength, fruity and caramelly aftertastes. Good stuff.

12 ounce single bottle from the local Harris Teeter, as part of a create your own six-pack. Pours a copper color with a thin head. Aroma is thin with hops and a touch of floral citrus. Taste is muted with a hoppy bite to finish. Not bad, but nothing special.

The smell is the best part of the beer some good hop prescience. Taste is just OK little malt, little bitterness, slight citrus hops.
