COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s grandiose vision for a mile-high skyscraper dubbed "The Illinois," we set out to brew an imperial IPA that would be similar in name and ambition. "The Illinois" Imperial IPA is dry-hopped with three of our favorite hops: Cascade, Meridian, and Citra. the result is a harmoniously hoppy ale with a flavor and aroma that is uniquely Goose Island.

Bottle: Almost fully opaque, dense burnt-orange body with a creamy eggshell head that foams up nicely & lasts substantially long; nice lacing. First whiff is quite sweet, more sweet than I typically like my DIPAs. Florals, mild dankness, sticky caramel, toffee, pineapple, tangerine, honey sweetness... Lots of notable residual sweetness. Flavor has an added, leafy & mildly floral bitterness, a touch of hop leaf & hop oil, but sadly still has a malt backbone that’s too dark & large for its own good. Sweet, sweet caramel, toffee, & toasted malts just evade the palate & steal the show. Faint tropical fruitiness with a tingle of leaves in the finish, but your palate is left coated with sticky malt sugars. Not necessarily a bad beer, but definitely not my style of DIPA, that’s for sure.

Keg at Top Hops - NYC. Pours amber-gold, clear, with a frothy white head. The nose has some leafy hops, dry bread, toasted caramel, ripe orange. Medium-strong sweetness with some further lightly dry and toasty bready malts, ripe tropical fruits, some papaya, mango, orange juice, full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, moderately resinous, with more ripe fruits, melon and mango, pine, alcohol, dried leaves, light dry bread. OK.

Poured a medium red with a fluffy head. Slight nose. Not as intense in the mouth as I would have liked. My recent hop needs we’re not met.

Thanks to iNBe. Rather nice citrus and floral hopped DIPA. Malt balances nicely. Serving; Bottle

Bottle pour - orange body with a frothy cream head. Aroma is bold and heavily perfumed/floral hop notes abound...some citrus as well - inviting and enjoyable. Flavor is very hop forward, high level of bitterness - floral hops dominate with some piney hop notes and even a touch of light citrus. Oily body was quite thick - almost a bit of a chore to drink. Good beer, but nothing outstanding here...

Pours a deep orange color with a medium sized foamy white head. Notes of orange citrus, apricots, brown sugar, and roasted sunflower seeds. Nice sticky mouthfeel.

Orange pour with a white head. The aroma has some strong perfume and flora notes as well as some orange citrus. The flavor has some bitter floral notes with some light pine and orange thrown in. There is also some biscuit malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pour is a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma is decently hopped with some caramel coming thru. Flavor is a really nice hops profile. Fruity yet spicy. Finish is sweet but with some light hop resin and no noticeable alcohol. Pretty solid IIPA.

Bottle. Clear yellow pour, frothy head. Nice hop flavors with a bitter finish. Citrus and grass. A bit harsh and unbalanced, but good.
