COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s grandiose vision for a mile-high skyscraper dubbed "The Illinois," we set out to brew an imperial IPA that would be similar in name and ambition. "The Illinois" Imperial IPA is dry-hopped with three of our favorite hops: Cascade, Meridian, and Citra. the result is a harmoniously hoppy ale with a flavor and aroma that is uniquely Goose Island.

On tap at FT. Clear amber pour with lacy white head. Good hoppy aroma, citrusy, lemony. Taste is hoppy, very citrusy, light caramel malt, not too bitter, quite quaffable. Very easy drinking, med-full body and good carbonation.

12 oz. draft at Beechland Tavern in West Hartford, CT. Pour is slightly hazy golden amber, with off white head and good lacing. Smell is lots of pine and hop spice. Tons of citrus. Taste is hoppy but not too bitter, maybe a bit too heavy on the grapefruit and citrus. Over all not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler from Whole Foods Columbus Circle, 08/18/2013. Pours orange amber, thin pillow of foam on the surface fades to hazy swirl, thin ring of lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel, nutty, orange essence and grapefruit, herbal grassy notes, boozy bitter finish. Taste is resinous, caramel citrus and piney hops, long bitter finish. Thick body, maybe a bit too sticky. Was hoping for more, maybe the keg wasn’t in great condition, but as is fairly average and a bit too sweet/malty, nothing outstanding for me.

Has a pretty signature goose island flavor too it but with the nice concentrated go flavor that a double ipa usually has. Lovely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Madison’s pre-GTMW event - Pours clear amber with a thin off-white head. Nose is dank hops, real citrusy with a clean malt base. Taste has a little more sweetness and booze, with lots of dank mango and citrus hops. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated. Real nice--not sweet or hot.

UPDATED: MAR 28, 2014 A medium-strong hop aroma. Very clear, un-bubbly. This is fairly sweet and sugary with a hop alcohol note that’s more noticeable near the end. Decent but not what I’m feeling at the moment. Had again and had to raise this up. Truly fantastic.

On tap at Independent Ale House. Pours golden orangish amber with white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, resiny hops, and some caramel. Flavors of grapefruit, pine, caramel malts, little toast, and good dose of bitter hops. Finishes with bitter hop burst ad residual sweetness of the caramel malts. Nice.
