COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s grandiose vision for a mile-high skyscraper dubbed "The Illinois," we set out to brew an imperial IPA that would be similar in name and ambition. "The Illinois" Imperial IPA is dry-hopped with three of our favorite hops: Cascade, Meridian, and Citra. the result is a harmoniously hoppy ale with a flavor and aroma that is uniquely Goose Island.

Bottle pour - orange body with a frothy cream head. Aroma is bold and heavily perfumed/floral hop notes abound...some citrus as well - inviting and enjoyable. Flavor is very hop forward, high level of bitterness - floral hops dominate with some piney hop notes and even a touch of light citrus. Oily body was quite thick - almost a bit of a chore to drink. Good beer, but nothing outstanding here...

Pours a deep orange color with a medium sized foamy white head. Notes of orange citrus, apricots, brown sugar, and roasted sunflower seeds. Nice sticky mouthfeel.

Orange pour with a white head. The aroma has some strong perfume and flora notes as well as some orange citrus. The flavor has some bitter floral notes with some light pine and orange thrown in. There is also some biscuit malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Pour is a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma is decently hopped with some caramel coming thru. Flavor is a really nice hops profile. Fruity yet spicy. Finish is sweet but with some light hop resin and no noticeable alcohol. Pretty solid IIPA.

Bottle. Clear yellow pour, frothy head. Nice hop flavors with a bitter finish. Citrus and grass. A bit harsh and unbalanced, but good.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle dated 12FEB14. So it is a little old. The pour is a milky copper-orange color with a bountiful, foamy off-white head. The aroma is floral, resiny, and hoppy like an Imperial IPA might be. A type of orange or pear feel to it too. The body is medium. The taste brings out an explosion of bitterness through those floral hops. A weird sort of astringent acidity surrounds this.

On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a hazy yellow amber color with a bit of head. Viscous with intense hops. Some alcohol harshness.

Pours a dense and murky reddish orange with two fingers of sandy tan head. Nose is a bit muddled, oxidized and papery with some heavy citrus rind notes and piney notes. Rich flavor, bit too much body and malt presence to my taste. Citrus rind and earthy biscuity malt. Piney notes as well.

I expected this to be a really big beer. But it fell a little short for me. Maybe I’m spoiled by the other big hoppy brews out there. It’s worth a try but don’t expect the moon and stars
