COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s grandiose vision for a mile-high skyscraper dubbed "The Illinois," we set out to brew an imperial IPA that would be similar in name and ambition. "The Illinois" Imperial IPA is dry-hopped with three of our favorite hops: Cascade, Meridian, and Citra. the result is a harmoniously hoppy ale with a flavor and aroma that is uniquely Goose Island.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4547) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 24, 2014
Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a vibrant orange-caramel color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet grapefruit and lemon. The flavor was tangy, sweet, yet bitter with notes of lemon, grapefruit, a bit of resin, light caramel, and a bready undertone. Long sweet grapefruit and resin finish. Moderately full bodied. Solid.

Rated on 3-21-2014 at 800 Degrees Three Fires (Fort Wayne, IN). This draft beer pours a small beige head with a short retention, transparent gold body, minimal carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aromas are caramel malt, sweet, bitter, and very citrus orange hops. The taste is sweet, bitter, caramel malt, alcohol, and citrus orange hops. The mouth feel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, the hops play the part that they should with this beer given this beer’s style. This is a beer for the hop heads and worth trying.

12oz bottle pours a hazy orange with a large off white head. Some citrus and hop aroma. Taste is the same just seems watered down from the aroma.

Pours crystal clear light copper with a modest off-white head. The aroma has tangerines, funk, floral notes, cotton candy and lots of maltiness to offset the hops. The body is fairly full with light graininess and fairly soft carbonation. The taste starts off with lots of sweet maltiness, piny / tangerine/ mild fruit hoppiness. There is a big big malt backbone to this one. The finish has gentle hoppiness with fairly aggressive sweet caramel maltiness. For a double IPA this is one sweet cloying example. The hop are definitely here, but they can’t overcome the sweetness that it’s up against.

On tap at HOTB. Pours a clear dark orange with a slight white head. Aroma is of tangerine and alcohol. Syrupy mouthfeel and slightly sweet. Still well done.

This draft brew from a restaurant poured a head of finely sized white colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a typically carbonated transparent dark orange colored body. The mild aroma was hoppy. The hot sharp mildly vinous crisp mouth feel was very tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong hoppy aftertaste. The strong flavor contained notes of bitter mild citrus crisp and hops. A wonderful best in class brew.

bottle. bottled on 2/18 or so. about a month rotted. Holy cloudy murky orange pour with no head. didn’t expect that from AB InGoose. nose of pungent Citra and dank hops. Not familiar with meridian hops though. Taste is kinda flat compared to the nose. maybe this is just too cold. Kinda thin mouthfeel, which is fine, but honestly, not much hop flavor. I really wanted that nose to come through in the flavor, but it just doesn’t. A light orange and citrus comes through as it warms. maybe I should go drink a can of something else while this warms... ok so I came back to this and I still feel that the hop flavor is lacking for a DIPA. Solid beer without fault, just needs more hop flavor. also, as the beer warms clarity improves greatly. must be just chill haze.
